how about designing a new champ that can very easily shutdown assassins?

there's janna I guess, but she gets nerfed for actually being a good support champ alistar too, but not a lot of peel. what about a champ with great disengage and strong debuffs to shut down assassins? of course, to make sure this champ isnt too strong, it'd have to have some downsides, like weak initiation what if said champ had a shield that gave attackers a mini exhaust. sorta like thornmail, just not ass and can be put on anyone.

Taric Shutdowns assassins... BUT NO ONE EVER PLAYS TARIC.

I think that disengage can usually be used as engage. Also, Poppy can do some of this because of her w. I think that rito is thinking along these lines of anti engage. The new champ has good disengage and actually will only be weak to assassins in the early game before he builds roa and stuff.

Id be a bit suspicious of any champion that could shut down an assassin through a method other than utility. They might be overpowered if it was thru dmg or harass. What exactly do you mean by shut down? Shut down in a fight? Or shut down in a lane.

It might be interesting to see a vision based champion. Vision can shut assassins down. I killed kaxix in my last game because I saw where he was going to farm after invading our red buff. Killed him with ekko and his stun. Pretty sweet. Sometimes I think that as long as you arent an adc, you can maybe maybe deal with an assassin if you are clever.

doesnt have to have the exact same stats it'll also have a long cooldown and will have low health so that it only lasts as long as it needs to.

Balancing something like that would be damn near impossible, also the main strength of assassins is their ability to snowball the early to mid game. It takes a very smart player to successfully assassinate someone late game, I'll agree Zed is a bit over tuned currently since he has so much mobility and escape potential compared to something to the likes of Talon or Katarina (who has to get a reset to survive an all in), but Riot has already confirmed they are planning on toning Zed down. I think the best they can do is balance current Assassins. Also something like Kindred is already a massive counter to most assassins. Simply click R and Zed's ult now does next to nothing, Talon just jumped on your carry? Press R and laugh while he pops all his abilities and your carry still has 10% of their HP and Talon is now in your team with no escape and no damage left.
