[Runes Reforged]: The Hail of Blades

So with the 5/3 PBE update, a new keystone has been introduced to the Domination Tree (Other keystones include: Predator/Electrocute/Dark Harvest).

What does it do?

  • Gain 50 - 100% Attack Speed for the first 3 attacks made against an enemy Champion.
  • No more than 1.5s can elapse between attacks or Hail of Blades will end.
  • Hail of Blades allows you to temporarily exceed the attack speed limit.
  • have to be out of combat for 5 seconds in order for it to go on cooldown

From what I've gathered on PBE so far (Will be doing more tests), it ONLY applies to basic attacks. Which means like Stormrazors, champions who have abilities that act like basic attacks such as Gangplank Gangplank's [Q: Parrrley] or Yasuo Yasuo's [Q: Steel Tempest] do not proc it. If you ask me, it kinda feels out of place in the Domination tree & I believe it will be pretty niche compared to the other Keystones in that tree.

Thoughts guys/gals/yordles?

It's the same shit almost. Anyone that could use this could have as easily used lethal tempo or electrocute. It's like they made anooother aa rune for the few that prefer unfront aa damage.

There's no windup either, which I think is the only difference between them. Lethal Tempo has a short delay before you get the attack speed, Hail of Blades has no Delay.

we have electrocute for no delay, as well as press the attack

more basic attack bullshit as if we didn't have enough basic attack keystones.

I think Lethal Tempo is much better in longer fights. Hail of Blades doesn't have that Windup delay like Tempo, Might be good for Rageblade users who want to get that thing stacked quickly.

IMO this keystone is pretty meh.

I agree, I think it'll be at home with Rageblade users. Not so good for those prolonged fights, Lethal Tempo does the job much better there.

Wrong, Xin doesn't want it because his E gives him enough AS to land all 3 attacks from Q. Lethal Tempo is far superior as it kicks in right after your knockup hits and lasts for entire fights as opposed to only the first 3 attacks. Twitch could probably use Hail of Blades or anyone with Rageblade but not Xin.

You can use this on melee Rageblade users so you can get Rageblade fully active quicker, or on anyone with X-hit effects:

Ashe's Q Braum's passive (for those people who play solo lane Braum in normals) Diana's passive Ekko's passive Kled's W Morde's Q Tahm's passive Udyr's Q Xin's Q

Off the top of my head.

So let's say you hit someone with Kayles Q and then proceed to auto attack for this rune, does it count you as in combat so the rune gets disabled? Or do you have the 1.5s to engage and then 1.5s between autos? If it's the latter then Kayle can really do work with the domination tree now: Cheap shot, eyeball collection and ravenous hunter with manaflow band and transcendence should give her a good laning phase. To me it seems that a lot of champions that wanted domination but attack speed as well are going to benefit from this depending on how hard it will be to proc.

Was hoping Riot was gonna bring Fervor or Death Fire Touch to domination because there are no runes I like on Jayce. Guess ill have to wait another 3-6 months to see what they bring for sorcery.

yea, same with Yasuo here, im only silver-gold level but conqueror, dont get me wrong, its hella nice but with the new ie conqueror just seems extra and would love some extra healing off of something like fervor or warlords.. also for other bruisers as well..

Do Azir soldiers proc it?

It's not really out of place in the domination tree, it's just more of a niche keystone. It's very strong on a few champions like Diana and Morde, less so on champions who don't work off actual AA like Yasuo and GP. This is fine because both of them have 2 keystones that are basically made for them anyway, while Diana only had electrocute (leading to nashors tooth being out of favour) and Morde had arey (Still not sure which is best, though hopefully a morde main can enlighten us xD)

It could also be good for some in the adc pool, I hear jhin makes good use of it though I don't know any jhin mains lol.
