So, Rift Herald

Is it actually worth getting? Out of the games I've played this preseason, I've only seen Rift Herald gotten very few times, mostly it was at the start of preseason. Now it seems that both teams just ignore the little guy in his pit. Is it actually worth getting? Or does the buff it gives need... a buff?

I try to courage my teammates to get it.

Trust me , that buff gives you a early guaranteed pushing power if you're with your team.

If you get him early, he's worth 2 - 4 towers, depending on your teams make up...

Rift Herald is a very good buff that is quite worth it. I think were still at that stage of waiting for people to catch on. Rift Herald is also very easy to kill so why we don't see more grab it I dunno. The buff only becomes hard to kill when you try it solo, but two man it and your golden.

I think the problem is that it's hard to coordinate. Most mids aren't so great at securing it. You're often dependent on the top.

The thing is, while the buff is nice to have, I don't feel it's worth going out of your way for -- since it doesn't scale well late game, and dawdling risks losing a dragon. So you really need your top to push just before your jungler arrives, so both parties are free to take it at the same time.

Worth it when you do take it? I think so, certainly. But good luck coordinating that reliably in solo queue, at least until more people catch on.
