Am I the only one sick of every new champ having an ability that does something every X hits?

Morgy Morgy··3 votes·546 views

Tahm Kench, Ekko, Gnar, Braum, Void Spaghetti, it's getting so redundant and boring that we can almost expect it on any champ now. It isnt creative anymore, and its just getting old. Aatrox Braum Caitlyn Darius Diana Ekko Gnar etc etc etc

I hate that they keep releasing champions that can autoattack. Comon Riot, 126 in a row?

Alright then, create five new abilities that have never been done before in this game or any other, go.

Arcade Andrew1 votes

I could think of a few

Q: Pulls enemy close to you keeping them close to you for X amount of seconds; that enemy has 100% dmg multiplier to you BUT they cant attack/be attacked by anyone else on your team and you cant be attacked by/attack anyone else on the enemy team (its like poopys ult but balanced! and it forces them near you so they cant run away and its deadly to you possibly) W: a chargeable shield (yeah sure shields weve them everywhere but read) gain 1 charge per 5 seconds in game after minions spawn, each charge blocks 10DMG of all types (including true)

does not have a max cap, can be used on turrets inhibs nexus minions allies, even dragon or baron or a neutral camp

(think of all the ways this shield could be used and wether or not its a good idea to let it charge up or use it frequently)

E: ability sends out projectiles in an entire circle around you; projectiles that hit something can hop from target to target up to 5 times including structures.

R: ability instantly gives you +1000 max health everytime you use it (cooldown 100 seconds) you lose 1500 max health every time you die after youve used this ability 2 times.

So Darius E and Poppy ulti but flipped

Edit: Or if you REALLY wanna get technical, Legion Commander's ultimate, mixed with Poppy ulti.

W: a chargeable shield (yeah sure shields weve them everywhere but read) gain 1 charge per 5 seconds in game after minions spawn, each charge blocks 10DMG of all types (including true)

does not have a max cap, can be used on turrets inhibs nexus minions allies, even dragon or baron or a neutral camp

So a shield that works different, but at the end of the day, just a shield.

E: ability sends out projectiles in an entire circle around you; projectiles that hit something can hop from target to target up to 5 times including structures.

So multiple Katarina's Q

R: ability instantly gives you +1000 max health everytime you use it (cooldown 100 seconds) you lose 1500 max health every time you die after youve used this ability 2 times.

Annnnd Cho'gath ultimate without the damage part.

His point being, it's really hard to be creative AND Original while trying to make something new. It's really easy to take inspiration from things, without being aware of it.

Q: its nowhere near darius ulti, this pulls an enemy close to you, (allowing them to movie withing a small bubble near you but forced to move with you in a sense) they can attack you and you can attack them but you two are basically immune from the battle going on around and you take increased dmg

W: so? its a new ability I dont see anyone with a multi purpose never ending scaling shield 9(just think about the 60 minute game nexus saves when both teams have just the nexus left and youre the lowly support trying to defend the nexus against five then OH HELLO IVE BEEN SAVING THIS BAD BOY FOR AGES! +5000000+ nexus health shield that stays on it until they destroy it

E: kats Q cant dmg structures and I was thinking arrows or missiles and they dont prioritize anything

R: its in no way like chos ult You gain 1k health sure 2k twice before you can start losing health but the catch 22 here is if you die alot your max health is PERMA gone by 1500 until you regain it via the ult

IE say you have 6 mogs

with a base max lvl 18 health of 6000+6000from mogs + 2000 from ult before you lose hp

if you die after that 2nd time using ult you lose 1500 thats 14k total - 1500 =12500 hp say you die 2 more times -3000 health now you are at 9500 health THE ONLY way to get that back is via the ult this drainage stays on after death and applies to items so lets say you already lost 4500 meaning you lost the 2k you gained + 2500 right now two and a half of the hp you got from the item warmogs is gone (selling the item wont reduce your health farther youll just lose no health or the remaining health youve got left on the mogs

basically the death cost is 1500 health from your entire health resource pool (items/actives/shields/max health) that stays the entire game the only way to gain any of it back is via the ult

(this means itd be a good idea to zil this guy or buy a GA) cus if you die 1 or more times every 100 seconds youll never get positive health out of this ult only negative

It's easy to come up with abilities that haven't been made before. The real trouble is how to make ones that aren't terrible design; which is why these kinds of abilities haven't shown up.

Passive: Gain health equal to health restored by enemies within 1000 range I.E. If an enemy Warwick Q's near you, you heal too. Active: Reverse a champion's movement for 3 seconds. (Clicking in a direction moves you the opposite direction) Active: Disguise yourself as a minion. Active: Attune to a target, moving in orbit around them at a high speed. The size of the orbit is based on distance between you and the target on cast. This orbit can take you through walls. No cooldown, and can change orbit targets freely. (this could be compared to Yasuo's E, but functions much differently) Passive: All projectiles fired by this champion are also fired from every allied unit within 1000 range in the same direction.

Will admit, have never seen this before.

Active: Reverse a champion's movement for 3 seconds. (Clicking in a direction moves you the opposite direction)

So fear in a different name

Active: Disguise yourself as a minion.

Lifestealer's ultimate.

Wisp's tether

No. That's a stretch. You can still move forwards by clicking in the wrong direction. Doesn't function like fear, because it doesn't impede anything, just confuses controls.

Lifestealer's ultimate.

Ah, that is true.

Wisp's tether

It's nothing like that. Wisp's tether is just that, a tether. It doesn't have anything to do with movement. The ability I described is a mobility skill.

Did you seriously mention Cait, Diana and Darius? Darius!? Wat.

I agree that lately it's just too much, but you pull 3-4 years old champions and put them next to those released a month ago? Man.

Rebonack2 votes

It's a good way to gate ability interactions by forcing a champion to stay committed beyond poke-and-run.

'A thing happens after X hits' is a pretty old and widely used mechanic.

Would you rather these champs do something obnoxious on EVERY hit?

Plus, I'm willing to give Tahm a pass because his stacking passive doesn't instantly deal tons of damage by itself. It CAN do a nice chunk of damage once you chow down on the marked target, but Tahm's not really mobile at all.
