Vi needs a Rework and here is why and how
Hi, i am FridgeD and i play LoL since the end of season 2. I main Vi since her release. I played a lot of lol in season 3-7, but more in normal draft then ranked, usually ranking in plat 5 and stopping there (not this season tho, i really needed a break after s7 and s8 wasnt that great either).
I always wanted to make a post about a Vi rework, even more after camille got released. Why does Vi need a rework?:
- horrible dualist: Vi gets 1vs1ed by legit every useful jungler. her kit is so straight forward on catching people, that other aspects see no light.
- unfair to play against: when the other team has champs like eve and ashe, then Vi becomes ganking machine without any major counter play. ult them for free gold. There is not much counter play against Vi´s ult.
- what is that power budget?: Vi´s power is so highly located in few parts (see point 1+2), that her power budget super inbalanced. what does Vi do? fast farming, hard bursting and ULT. her ult is her major flaw imho. it is so strong, it drains most of the power budget. even when Vi is super weak, like most of season 8, her winrate doesnt drop too hard under 50%. because winning by catching someone at 25 min always works. btw: did you know, that Vi has the highest hp reg and the second highest hp reg/lvl? ancient relics from her design as a toplaner.
- Camille exists: Camille is basically Vi 2.0. Aside from farming, Camille is just better at everything: dualing early, ganking, scaling, catching, ...
- not living up to the idea: Vi´s idea is being the vault breaker for her team, smashing people into the ground, tanking dmg, doing dmg, ... ingame Vi isnt able to deliver. she does not have a real defensive tool like the all new divers have. irelia got her q heal and w dmg reduc, camille has her passive, her w heal and her ult untargetable, ww has his passive and q heal and his e dmg reduc. Vi has a shitty shild. yes, it is really bad compared to the rest of the diver class. the only diver with this little def is j4, but his shild grows with more enemies around him and is on demand, while Vi triggers automatic with abilities used.
- Vi has 1 real ability until 6, her q. WW got a rework for this reason alone. people like to press buttons.
So what has to change, to make Vi a better champ, more than just discount Camille? (not played in pro since? too long!)
- we need to nerf/delete stuff to make room for change. there was no good in release state Reksai or Camille. This might sound crazy, but i suggest Vi cant ult until she procs denting blows on her target. also her burst should go down by a lot, to make room for utility and dps (= base dmg down for q, e and ult). her absurd hp reg isnt really needed too.
- add new stuff and change existing stuff. i would suggest, to turn her w and e into 1 skill. and denting blow should stack. 1 time for minions, 2 times for monster and 3 times for champions (base dmg down ofc). for her passive, i would give her a smaller shild (like 6%), but it procs everytime Vi successfully uses cc on an enemy champion or a large monster. **Vi´s Q gets a shorter charge up time and higher max range. **(same travel speed for counter play). i would add a new E: counter punch. Vi slows herself by 50/45/40/35/30% for 1 second, blocking all incoming dmg, cc and debuffs. after 1 second Vi knocks every enemy around her up (really small aoe, like 150 radius) and deals X% total AD dmg too them. (when you google "lol vi jinx" you will find an image, where Vi blocks bullets with her gauntlet. this would make a good animation) and finally there are some changes for the ult, besides less dmg and the condition to proc. **Ult has a higher travel speed and grants full ragnarok. no more stupid knock backs a lá Tris or Poppy! ** Also: WHERE IS GOD GAUNTLET VI??? (this better a legendary)
