Is there a way to play easier competition?

I'm pretty new (about six weeks), and I feel like I've been going up against excellent people. I'm a level 29, but I'm not very good.

Is there a way to go against people who aren't that good?

keep playing and the automatic machmaking will put you against players equal to your skill level eventually unfortunately this time of year has a lot of smurf accounts being made. so it is a little iffy on what you will get on the enemy team and yours.

Matchmaking is based on a hidden number known as your MMR, which goes up when you win and down when you lose. So if you go on a big win streak, your mmr will go up quite a bit too and you'll be facing somewhat more skilled players, and if you lose a bunch you'll end up facing not-so-skilled players since your mmr will have gone down.

Keep in mind that if you're where you 'belong', you'll still lose around 50% of the time, so it's not necessarily you being in over your head, and can sometimes be equally skilled players just happening to have a good game and snowballing.

I probably win about 1/4 of the games I'm in.

That bad.

Most of the time, the team I'm on gets destroyed.

Welp, just hang in and keep playing then. Eventually you'll fall to an mmr consistent with your skill level and your winrate will level out, it can just be somewhat discouraging at first.

Still, try to pay attention to what people are doing that results in them outplaying you, and try to learn from it. While getting stomped doesn't feel good, it can be a good learning opportunity as long as you focus instead of just getting frustrated.
