What is better, Master Yi Top or Jungle?

I'm saying jungle, but my friends say he's way better in top.

jungle by far

every single bruiser top lane will stomp on him, and he doesn't threaten tanks much until level 3 because level 1 Q is ass. even then he doesnt have any escape options so he becomes a liability in the top lane.

his mid lane is much much better then top as you can cheese a lot of mages with Q double strike combos

yi top is trash legit

he is only viable jungle cuz he afk farms til at least lvl 6 and gets to do so uncontested

if any was smart they would play an early dominate jungler /counter jungler and just steal his jungle and kill him in his own jungle and he a complete nonfactor

At top lane most of the generic meta picks just 100-0s him ignoring his W heal. He is absolutely trash at top.

Apparently, he's pretty strong top-lane with W-max since you can just sustain through everything.

only if the enemy is playing a low pressure champ, if he max's w then he can't really duel against carries like, jax irelia riven etc, and his early game mana use is pretty rediculous meaning even with the sustain he can't stay in lane long

His mana costs are less of an issue if you use Alpha Strike conservatively.

Since you aren't maxing it, you just want to use the ability for a gap-closer and untargetability (and it has a lower mana cost at rank 1).

Considering E doesn't have a mana cost and the high cooldown on Meditate, it is much less of an issue.

The minimum healing on Meditate scales from 120 to 440. With Meditate maxed first and a Vampiric Scepter, he can be very difficult to push out of lane.

the issue is that against meta tops like darius the only way he can farm is with alpha strike since they will obliterate him if he walks up, the fact he only has offensive mobility pre 6 means that he is incredibly vulnerable to all ins, he probably works well against champs who rely on harrass to force him out of lane but considering the current meta i don't think he is very viable top

In all honesty, Yi jungle is probably the way to go. If you're going jungle and you get invaded then you have laners to help you and you can farm up easily. Playing top it's just a tossup of champs. Some champs like Darius or Garen or godforbid Teemo will completely destroy you or cut you off, but against champs like Riven, Yasuo or Fiora it's just a skill matchup. Also, what's with people maxing w? You're trying to be an assassin, not a Nasus
