Whatever Happened To Scaling?

Considering all things, I get that "scaling" champs are slightly toxic in the game, but what are you going to do with those "supposed" scaling hyper carries? No one in this game actually "scales" anymore, except Yasuo who turns into a monster that no one can duel late game. People like Jayce pub stomp from the beginning of the game without losing too much effectiveness late game. Then you have champs like Vayne whose sole purpose is to have a terrible early game and monstrous late game, but she's being pub stomped all game from beginning to end. Then you also have Sivir whose also scrapping the bottom of the barrel.

My question is, what are you going to do with champs whose power spikes are so unachievable, by the time they reach it the game's already been decided? Every champ should have some sort of spike to make them useful. Granted, Vayne is a good pick versus sustained damage and mostly tanks, but she's struggling versus just about every ADC whose name isn't Sivir. (Not a Vayne rant, btw. Just an example of an late game champ that isn't given her time to shine at any point in the game)

The problem is that games are decided much earlier and are much more snowbally than in previous seasons (before preseason 6), which means there is much less room for balancing. This is why strong early game champions like Lee define the meta and are doing so well. You simply can't afford staling for a time long enough to scale.

That's what I have noticed, which is bad news for me since I am more of a mid/late game player. Has made playing ranked not that much fun for me.

Fair enough, I get that. My only problem is what will happen to champs that sacrifice their early game power for late game and only get mediocre spikes compared to early game champs. I know it's a balance headache, but I find it only fair that if a team with early game comp doesn't decimate a scaling team before they scale, it's only fair that they have an advantage late game. I find the high risk, high reward play style of playing a team with scaling champs more high risk mediocre reward than anything.

I feel Veigar scales really damn well.

Didn't give much thought to all champs. You're right, Veigar scales pretty hard if he stacks effectively, as well.
