So quick question: Why do you not lose less LP when your teammate feeds/AFK's?

You can't always get a bloody loss prevented.

But 2/14/7, 1/11/1, 2/11/4 - if one of my teammates is honestly borderline causing a loss by repeatedly ignoring teammates, diving enemies, and all in all not playing as a team player, then why should I still lose so much LP? It's 6v4 at that point as he continues to give the enemy food, and it's impossible to carry something like that, especially when they have the communications of somebody who never connected.

If you're not going to give loss prevented for AFK's from the start, then at the very least, give reduced LP loss for the teammates who have to suffer through these kinds of things. There's no reason for us to lose so much when by and large they're the cause of the issue.

You should lose extra LP for crying about it here. If you really need this explained to you here ya go.....

First off there is way to much room for exploiting any system that gave less LP loss in these situations. 2 people duo....team is going to lose...one of them just afks or starts having a really really bad game all the sudden and feeds and they get the benifit of less IP loss. Think of all the times you hear GG after someone gives up first blood....those type of people would instantly start down the path of trying to save some LP.

Secondly there is no way for a computer to determine when to give less LP for having a bad team mate. Does it judge you on kills? deaths? cs? items? damage done? wards placed? I mean there are endless combinations of things that make the difference between a good game and bad game not to mention that good game and bad game are subjective. I had someone tell me today that "ori isnt fed she has 9 deaths" well the ori in question had 12 kills. Most people in the game equate kills to a good game. Someone who goes 20/20/3 will tell you they had a great game but couldn't carry their team because they were bad where I would say that someone who goes 20/20/3 had a terrible game and fed the enemy team so hard the rest of the team couldn't compete.

So, while I sympathize with you, we all get bad team mates and we all have bad games. What you are asking will never happen....ever...so just focus on things you can change.

They already calculate when somebody dies, where they die, what they were doing, how much damage they do, how much damage they take, and it can be easily weighed against the teammates in the game. Nobody wants to lose LP, so purposely throwing a winnable game is plain stupid. And if they lose extra LP for their actions - as people who are underperforming heavily in ranks they're in should since they're not matching the skill level of their placement - nobody would want to throw terribly.

And it's not going to fix every single occurrence, but it will fix the most prevalent and obvious ones that need fixing. And why shouldn't it?

You say focus on things that can be changed, well this is a glaring problem with the game and ranking that can easily be at the very least patched up a bit to make it far less of a hassle. And it can be changed - what I cannot change is a 2/14/7 Yasuo telling me "fuck your mother" while he dives the enemy team again with only you and an AD Nid to back him up against 5 fed enemies. That's not a remediable thing, but there should at least be punishment for it and relief for those being affected by such a player.

One of the top reasons people leave this game is because there's no repercussions for doing stuff like this - even if you go 1/20/7, you're not going to get banned for intentionally feeding, and you can avoid any form of consequences by just not talking. At all. Riot doesn't give a shit about lack of communication reports and a 1/20/7 is a good enough score to them to make them look the other way and say that "They were at least trying", even if in reality they were repeatedly charging the enemy and would do one AA before you had to resort to trying to salvage the game by engaging in order to maximize the damage your team could ever do, so all those assists came from teammates trying to follow for the kill, and the one time they ran in on a low-health enemy.

Look, if there's no relief for these situations, there needs to at least be some actual consequences. The bollocks auto-punishment feature only checks chat logs, so these problems are going absolutely unpunished.

Or you're just bad and you dont help him and leave the lane to feed. If you're are doing well in your lane it doesn't hurt to walk to another lane and help them get a lead or catch up. I had an 0-3 Riven and an 0-3 Vayne but, I camped their lanes until they were capable late game when it matters.

I never seem to see anyone begging to gain reduced LP for having feeders on an enemy team.

This isn't to lessen the reward for winning a game. It's to lessen the punishment of the team being forced to play a game with a feeder or AFK.

This will cause a massive inflation of LP without the appropriate MMR gain to reflect it, and players will have to be clamped at all ranks to avoid rank inflation.

It's a balance. You can't call for reduced LP penalties on one side if you aren't going to also call for reduced LP gains on the other.

The loss prevention is not for feeding, it's for the AFK. The reduced LP is for the feeders, and at the very least should definitely be implemented for those on a team with an AFK. Increasing LP loss for an AFK or performing excessively poorly (basically feeding) will discourage these actions rather easily if this system is implemented since right now the auto-ban feature doesn't work for shit on some AFK's and intentional trolls/feeders and there's no relief for those dealing with the issue.

If it's just a bad game and they belong in the ELO they're currently in, they should be able to make it back up within subsequent games - it's the same argument for any "ELO hell" discussion: if you belong there, you'll win, so this is hardly any more than a minor setback. Unless you're admitting that there is a flaw in that argument?

And it's not like somebody going 1/8/9 is going to be punished - again, I said excessively poorly. More than your standard "bad game". In a fair system, you'd also get rewarded for having excessively good games - it only makes sense, even if you're just in a lucky game, if you didn't deserve the boost you'd lose it right away.

Obviously one of the arguments against that is if somebody's being boosted and that would just expedite the process since a D1 would definitely stomp his way up the ranks with relative ease - but again, if the player who got boosted then came back to do excessively poorly, they'd get demoted twice as fast as well. It's a reward/consequence system that still provides balance.
