So, why should my team lose LP because of a DC?

So this has never happened to me before but I just lost a game in which it was almost impossible to do anything in which I was supporting for a Vayne that 1st thing she did was ping her latency, it was around the 300s-400s, cool, let's play anyways, right? level 3 comes, she has 8 cs, backs off and then suddenly disconnects.

Oh boy. We ask her duo (we know they're duo because they share club tags) if vayne was coming back. No response. by 12 mins we're pushed into inners, struggling to do anything since 4 people defending vs the pressure of 5 people is borderline impossible. No chance at winning. Then the kicker of all, lost the normal amount of LP after holding onto dear life for 20 mins because her duo refused to ff.

Now I KNOW that the way it is right now it's to avoid players leaving once the game goes poorly intentionally as a way of the rest of the team not losing as much LP. but what if the game could tell if the person that disconnects has a shitty connection and thus identify if it's not just a person taking a dive for the team but an actual thing that you can't help?

Now I know this doesn't fix anything about players afking out of toxicity but man, it sucks when a game is lost because of something that isn't in your hands no matter how hard you try.

The occasional bad luck is out shadowed by abuse potential. All it takes is 1 booster to Turn on a bunch of Torrens and lag out to protect who ever they are boosting for example. You don't want to flood extra MMR into the system so its not ideal to lower 80% of the losing teams MMR loss by a abusable system.

Its just simpler to leave it as is, weak internet and bad connections tend to be consistent. Most players know how reliable their net is. The impact from a DC tends to be on the enemy team higher then yours because they have 1 extra slot to get a lagger/bad net player, not so its never going to become an event that prevents climbing.

Its a lot of effort for something that's not going to make a significant impact when you look at large numbers.

Sorry about your vayne. She probably is just as unhappy with the game as you are. Most folks dislike not being able to play.
