Adding Champions

Why does Riot keep releasing champions, if we can't even keep the champions we have viable? I feel like some champs are just blatantly ignored. Some just get nerfed off the face of the Earth so we don't have to deal with them, and then they get ignored for 2+ years (i.e. Urgot).

Why not delay further champ creation until the game is more evenly balanced? Is it a matter of business, or just disdain of reworking champs (reworks are usually accompanied by lots of backlash from people that don't like the results)?

tbh the game is pretty balanced the way it is wit a lot of different picks coming back into the metagame more often and season 4 provided a lot of different champion returns like shyvana and mundo early on and then leading into maokai and alistar top. I remember when i saw that and was like wtf lol. However, it shows that the game is capable of bringing back picks and changing them. Balancing 100+ champions equally is nearly impossible. There are simply some champions who fit better into meta or have better kits etc. It's like why Janna became popular again after awhile of not being played. Long range poke/a few assassins came back into play more often so Janna counters assassins well and supports long range poke champs extremely well. I think adding new champs into the game is good and gives a new taste cuz id rather have new champs then try to fix old ones. I feel that it's impossible to balance every single champion with eachother and its unrealistic especially when different champions have various strengths and weaknesses. Most people also tend to follow the pros/meta and play what they play such as Janna when GorillA and Mata were playing her during worlds. Not many played her before then. It's just difficult to balance things perfectly without having some champions lose viability without changing entire champion kits.
