lets talk about how the change to mark/dash is a buff

mark/dash was added in to alleviate "the poking problem" where games were oppressive when a high-poke comp was against a no-poke comp

mark/dash is added, and the game devolves to a snowball fight where everyone pokes everyone and some people get an insane mobility creep

now we take away the insane poke....

so now the issue of "poking champs out-poked by melee champs" is made worse because poking champs no longer really wanna take mark just for the poke anymore

now hold on I kind of like this change but....

on top of this, the "not kill till dash" means you can much more be able to dash to a minion for more consistent dashing. or better yet, mark a champ, dash to it, oh look just dashing to it killed it so now I can kill other things... where before i'd just get a kill and no dash

so basically, the "engage" nature mark/dash introduced that hugely off-balance the ARAM meta and made it no fun for me (no not because i am in love with poking people to death, no, becasue I like tense games where two teams are trying to set up a good fight and we send out bids of engagement and then say wait no lets try again in a bit) is now made a bit more oppressive, as mark has more usability than before and dash has more tricks than before. and, champions that can't use dash, no longer can use the poke of mark....

now, like i said, I actually approve of the change... but it doesn't fix the problem that got presented.

what would fix the problem? the following: make it so if you DON'T dash half the cooldown is refunded... but if you do the cooldown is twice what it currently is. or maybe tweak it, to 15... so that if I take mark/dash, i can mark, mark, mark, mark, mark as usual, but no longer can I engage, engage, engage, engage as usual. if I like my mark, I can engage, and fight, like we want, to make non-poke champs more balanced.... but unlike the current situation, If I engage with dash, I now have to wait 40 seconds before engaging again. I mean, considering how long the cooldowns of ults are, and how we typically like to engage when ults are up, doesn't that just make sense? whereas a dash-engage every 20 seconds means that team fights are permanently persistent events....

maybe it's just me, but I just don't want to see an ARAM meta where only a select number of champions now have a tool no one else has, that is as strong as an ult, and yet can be used more frequently....

. . . ps. I kinda wanna see mark's missile speed increased slightly, with its range decreased by about 30-40%... I mean the way I see it, the addition of mark/dash is to encourage players who don't know how to play a melee team verse a poke team to learn how to play it right... a "fairer" range and easier-to-land missile speed would help close the gap between a new player and a veteran. which is good, trust me. we don't want to encourage players working on their "object permanence" application to the fog of war to dive their lack of judgment.... I mean, when the veterans don't need a tool to out-play someone less experienced, yet that same tool give opportunity for the less-experienced to outplay themselves, you need to re-investigate that tool xD

problem as I said when it was etsted in the PBE (riot ignored me as always) is the cooldown. Put it to 50 seconds, 50% refund on dash and problem would be solved. Now the melee op tanky like irelia just get a free flash to burst the squish pokers... and even better! the mark/dash burst down 1/4 of the hp of the squish champs! It's so well thought!
