Turret plating is honestly the worst thing I've ever seen added to the game next to rng scuttles

For 2 entire fucking years all we asked was that turrets would be beefier, that's IT this is too REDUCE snowballing and give laners a chance to play safe and farm under tower, as well as not lose your entire tower if you die once. Instead you made it worse, you somehow found a way to make turrets beefier while also making the game even more snowbally.

If you die once the enemy now gets 2 - 3 kills worth of gold instead of just once. Ranged top laners get entire extra kills worth of gold now by just existing, more if they take klepto. Riot decided it wasn't enough for ranged top laners too keep proccing PTA over and over for free, dorans shield doesn't do shit against the new keystones but no, ranged top laners deserve to have a 320 gold advantage because they are more to difficult to play since they have to manager their range (lol)

Now matter how you look at it, all this change did was make the game more snowbally. Losing lane? You lose ever harder. Are you winning lane but your team is losing? Now your one winning lane breaks even if you attempt to help your team.

We've been saying this for years but it's so clear now that the people who make this game don't play it at above an iron level, if they play it at all, yet somehow they think they can balance for pro play.

When I came back to League in season 9 after taking a break, I was floored to see the game notorious for ridiculous snowballing was changed so that turrets give even more gold throughout their lifetime. I thought I was drunk when I first saw it happen. I'm pretty sure turret plates giving gold is the worst singular change League has ever had.

The problem is that if turret gold wasn't fairly high, there would be no reason to stay in lane as it would be more beneficial to roam and get kills instead of doing damage to a turret that takes very little. Instead of insane snowballing past 14 minutes, you would instead have 4 man ganks 5 minutes into the game. Neither are fun, but there isn't much alternative which is why turret plating was added.

The only way to counteract this would be either reduce gold from killing and then reducing turret plate gold, or an idea I would like to see implemented is that turrets do more damage the more enemy champions are around it, making 4 man dives on bot a lot more difficult to pull off and much higher risk, which might cause most people to instead try and kill their laners and farm instead of risking a dive.

No, the worst thing added to the game was the cs and kill Bounties. They basically turned the game into a coinflip joke in which all the advantage you created during 20 minutes can be erased just by killing you 2 times.

Also, don't forget the Baron buff. This was made so that the losing team which spent the entire game making mistakes can win if they are lucky enough to win a team fight. Fairly Balanced...

Regardless, I agree that plates give too much gold rn and the individual amount should be lowered.

Unpopular opinion incoming:

I actually like the way this works at the moment. I try extra hard in the beginning to get that first or 2nd kill, just so that I DO get that extra gold. Because most likely, my other lander or 3rd lane doesn't perform as well and I will have to go there / gank / carry and this will help me. Statistically seen, if you do well, one other lane on your team does bad. This helps you compensate for them.

Then don't die and actually win lane

You're not gonna be rewarded for playing poorly.

You are exagerating quite a bit. There has been the Juggernaut rework, the introduction of Lethality and Runes Reforged. Sure, turret plating is still a mess but we are talking about Riot. It's just a little mistake compared to the average fuck-ups they are used to do. Other misdeeds include:

  • Removal of Dominion and incoming removal of Twisted Treeline.

  • ARURF.

  • Eternals.

  • The sheer existence of Yasuo , Zed , Vayne , Akali , Irelia , Kayn , Kaisa , Pyke and Zoe .

  • item 3161 .

  • Jungle plants; and in general any kind of change to the jungle since Season 5.

And a lot more.

This. I don't even have to punish my laner for roaming anymore. I can just sit my ass in lane and harvest five turret platings+first turret gold and nab myself 1k gold while my laner works their ass off for one or two kills. They can come back 2/0 and I'll still fuck their assholes because I still have a 400~500 gold advantage.

In addition to this, people can't play safe anymore! God forbid someone picks something immobile/that I counter mid lane, because then I'll force their asses under turret and get that 1k turret gold anyways while also denying them farm. It's almost better to just die fighting your laner rather than sitting under turret and letting your laner take three platings.

Whole idea of platings is amazing. But Riot messed up whole concept.

  • Turrets in early game are kinda tanky, and they are getting tankier with each plating(during one push), so you can't lost them as a result of one action before 10 min? Pretty awesome.
  • Specified timing for early game? I'm lovin' it!
  • Turret health bars divided into segments, which are small rewards for snowballing/dominating lane? Yeah, it seems to be great idea.
  • Each plating is overpriced, which concludes in increased early game snowball even more by giving enemy fortune and extends his domination over one lane?... What the F.?

Why each plating(in theory 1/5 of turret) is worth 160g(to 800g, not including reward for taking turret and 1st brick/blood)?! I don't want them to be priced at 30g, or something, but reducing value of each plating by 60g to 100g(almost 40% of value reduction) will be enough to make them still relevant, but more fair(I do believe that this will be still strong).

I like turret plating.

I hate that it falls off after 14 minutes, removing comeback potential.

If you see you're a melee vs range, ask for jungle help at the start of the game. Ranged champs are generally really easy to gank as they tend to push and are very squishy. Even a trist with a jump can easily be ganked.
