What happend to gnar
this champ seems to have vanished and im just wondering why? im trying to play him but i cant find anyone who has more than 20 games on him .

Nerfed into oblivion because his design was just as toxic as the doomsayers predicted on his release.
he got nerfed alot
Nerfed a lot and he doesn't really have a good keystone. He cant use conquer like other bruisers because he's range most of the time. He was a case of a champion being absurd in pro play and average a lot of times in soloqueue as well
As a 
main, yes he was nerfed a bit too much.
The biggest one was to his removal of his extra CDR bonus on level 6, and lower base health. Making him easier to burst down, and less protection. So he sucks early game now unless you are facing a tank, and let's face it. Chances are you won't.
I don't find keystones to be problems as I found fairly great success. With PTA and Grasp after its buff. Giving Gnar either more damage or some survivalist options. I always take overgrowth as it mixes well with his low base health, and gives him a tad more.
And then the frozen mallet nerf also doesn't help.

Tbh though he is extremely toxic toplane when strong. Gnar has a beastly mod/late game because of so much teamfighting power and being tanky af plus hard to catch and kill when he kites you forever, but he used to have just as beastly in lane, which is pretty unfair to be so strong at all stages. Due to his having almost everything in his kit, he's sort of hard to balance.
