If this game was worth a shit, EVERYONE would start at Bronze Five and work their way up.
There wouldn't be any of this, play ten games and get a gold or diamond or platinum rating bullshit because you got lucky draws.
IF EVERYONE started at the bottom- then your system wouldn't be flawed- even with your bullshit point ranking system.

The system works the way it does to reduce the amount of unintentional pubstomping caused by players who severely outclass their opponents. It's not perfect, but there isn't a single perfect ranking system in any game. I think you'll live.

There is no bottom. There is only Bronze.
IndianBilly2 votesWho said anything about infinite? Everyone would START IN BRONZE and have to climb out of it. Bronze Five is the bottom- that's where EVERYONE SHOULD START so it's fair. Someone that gets placed in plat or gold because they got 10 great LUCKY matches doesn't prove they belong there. NEXT.
Z Statistic1 votesLeagues are based on MMR. If you have high MMR for a division you will climb even if you win only 50% of the time. However, the way that Elo works is that the only thing that matters is difference, not actual magnitudes. As such, there is no mathematical or logical problem with -120 MMR. Thus, in order to start at the bottom and work up, you'd have to start at the lowest MMR. But there is no lowest negative number. Thus, you have to have an arbitrary starting point.
This starting point instantly becomes the point of equilibrium, not the lowest point. Thus, what you're wanting is to change the system in a way that doesn't work.

Z Statistic1 votesIf you were playing legitimately, then this would be impossible as MMR change is a consequence of winning/losing, not the other way around.
However, there are a handful of diamonds/masters who have leveled a smurf and simply dodged all 10 of their placements to be placed in bronze 5. Then, every time they enter their promos, they simply dodge until they fail. This is because one loses LP by dodging but not MMR. They're still matched vs master and diamond players however. Thus, their winrate is roughly 50%. But they have to dodge very frequently as the system is therefore trying to boot them out of bronze.
Whether they still do that since riot has become much more strict on this kind of system abuse, I have no idea.
1 800 MID LANE1 votesSo no one would play ranked at the beginning of every season because you'd constantly be paired (and matched against) plats, diamonds, masters, and challengers and they'd be paired with bronzes and silvers. Unless you'd be getting rid of season ELO resets which are viewed by some people as their "only chance" to get out of bronze. That would only make more people angry about the system.
Ranking systems are flawed in every game, one way or another.
