Here is the TOTAL TRUTH ABOUT MATCHMAKING.

Anyone that believes matchmaking works as intended is a complete moron. Teams are NEVER perfectly matched- you either stomp or the other team gets stomped. This whole notion that matchmaking is doing such a good job is absurd. Whoever believes it at Riot, should be fired.

TOTAL TRUTH ABOUT MATCHMAKING

Rly. You start your thread with "total truth" then insinuate that the following statements are absolute fact:

  • Anyone that believes matchmaking works as intended is a complete moron.
  • Teams are NEVER perfectly matched
  • This whole notion that matchmaking is doing such a good job is absurd.
  • Whoever believes it at Riot, should be fired.

Not only is each of these statements resoundingly false, every single one of them is purely opinion and based on your own experience. If you actually want to open up a discussion, try to avoid passing off your bias as fact.

You probably shouldnt start a thread with "anyone that disagrees is a complete moron", even if you might be right kek

Players being matched =/= a close game

Is this how middle schools are teaching kids to write logical arguments? Sigh...

Teams are NEVER perfectly matched- you either stomp or the other team gets stomped.

The second part of this sentence is meaningless to the first part of this sentence. There are far too many factors at play in any particular game to blame matchmaking for one team snowballing into a stomp on the other. For example: two teams, each with an average MMR of 1200, and each consisting of players with the following MMR values (1150, 1175, 1200, 1225, 1250) can be said to be closely matched. However, depending on how the individual lanes are matched, the game could easily be a stomp either way.

For that matter, it's worth mentioning that most players don't match their average skill level in every game - they might play better in one role than in another (so in a game they're forced into a weak role, they perform as if they were of lower skill than average), or they might be having a rough day (which may cause them to make decisions they otherwise would recognize as poor). Since there's no way for matchmaking to recognize or predict these things, it's very possible - perhaps even common - for a player who's doing unusually poorly (or unusually well!) to swing the match incredibly far in one direction or the other.

As such, the fact that stomp games exist - even if they're common - says absolutely nothing about the effectiveness of the system as a whole.
