Is This Game Balanced?

I have not been playing league long, but I have been enjoying the game. Lately I have been thinking twice about putting in so much time, effort, and money into the game. I don't want to keep playing this game if its just an unbalanced mess.

Just last game I was playing tiger stance Udyr top lane against a Jax. I got 2 kills solo on him, and was up about 20 cs. I ended up getting ganked, and then after the gank, I was unable to solo him 1v1 even though I was ahead in gold. The game before that I was playing Velkoz mid against a Lux. Lux just seemed so op. Her skillshots go through minions, and did so much damage to me. I couldn't even stay in the lane, and ended up dying to her the rest of the game due to her ulti.

These are just a FEW examples of what I have been going through in the game. I DO NOT want to come off as a "noob whiner" I have just been putting alot of my free time, and alot of my discretionary income into this game.

I simply just would like to know if this game is seriously balanced, or if I am just a bad player, and lost those lanes because I didn't know how to play the match ups? Also this post is coming from a bronze 3 player who has only been playing for approximately 3 months off, and on. There have just been so many games where I feel like other heroes are op, but at the same time maybe its just because I am an inexperienced player that just needs to get better?

no, because Kalista is allowed to exist

Balance isn't that black and white and some champions are just better at fighting certain champions. Like Jax beats most melee attackers because his E stun, things like that.

League isn't balanced. No two ways about it. Riot gave up even trying to balance things out a long time ago and have settled for blatantly lying about buffs, nerfs, and fixes. If you want a fair and balanced game, I'd suggest Smite or HotS if you can get into the beta.

Riot tries, and does a decent job at balancing the game, except for some really glaring, biased decitions, specially everything about reworks, Lee Sin, Zed, Nidalee, Kalista, CertainlyT champions and mobility.

No, this game is not balanced and will likely never be perfect, at least according to everyone. Some people can play champs at the current levels and some people complain about buffs needed because they lose. Whether it is currently balanced is an opinion, and my opinion is that it is fine and very fun to play. The best you could do, as a player, is to learn how to counter champions that you are unable to fight against. I had the same problem with Viktor but I learned to engage on him instead of poking him out and I was fine.

Now for your examples- Udyr vs Jax If he builds damage, build burst and try to nuke him as he is squishy. If he build tank go dps Jax. Use your e to dodge his abilities that are based off autoattacks (so they can be dodged because of the e's affects) instead of using your e and then q'ing to him to engage. When you are winning lane, don't forget to ward. Trade with him like this to gain an advantage, and then do a full engage or ask for a gank to beat him up. Lux vs Velkoz Hit her with your w because it also passes through minions. Dodge her snare like there are no minions so it doesn't hit you. If she misses her snare engage since her other skills hitting are based on the snare. She can't interrupt your ult so don't be afraid to use it. Use your geometry q to poke her out from an even longer range.

League is for fun, and learning how to beat the "op" champions is part of the experience. If you do have fun, its worth it. If you don't then feel free to quit, no one is going to blame you.

If you ever find a game that is always perfectly balanced, it is that way because nothing about it ever changes.

The longer a champion is around the more balanced they will become, and most newer additions will be fairly unbalanced until people have played with them enough to figure out what exactly is making them unbalanced. An evolving game like league is a balancing act and at times it will be unbalanced.

Personally I think Riot does a pretty good job at balancing the game.

It's been the most balanced it ever has right now.

But it's still not balanced in the slightest.

you are bronze 3. alot of the "balance" problems you are facing can actually be solved by learning to play the game.

Game balance is beyond ability kits. Surely you realize this. In Jax's case, his counter strike ability basically wins him the fight against you and in Lux's case, it is what we call a "skill lane". Both of you rely on skill shots to be able to harm your enemy. Obviously Lux was the better one of you two. Your inexperience makes it feel imbalanced but it really isn't that imbalanced.

Don't get me wrong; I'm not saying it's perfectly balanced as evidenced by the nerfs/reworks of champions, but it is balanced enough to be worth the time imo.

game is not balanced when it comes to 1v1ing as there will always be champs better then others when comes down to 1v1, its a team game, so it comes down to team work, like jungler helping with ganks ect.

The game is pretty well balanced IMO, you just need to know how to play your champion and how to play against the enemy champion. Getting fed early is kind of OP though, since it's very easy to snowball out of control unless you're a tank or support.

Udyr isn't meant to be a top laner, he's a jungler and it's his best role by far. Jax is a particularly hard match up because he can dodge auto attacks (which is literally all Udyr does) and stun you. With the Vel vs Lux your skills go through minions too, with the exception of your slow which you can angle around minions to hit someone behind them. Lux is built to have more burst damage, build some CDR then dodge her skill shots and pummel her with as many of your skills as you can to make use of your passive.
