Amumu and his winrate

Oh,well, I'm just tired of facing that little forever alone mummy dude, Amumu . I'm low elo, Gold IV now, and every fucking match I have to deal with that ult destroying my entire team and there's nothing I can do about it If he hits a good ult with some AP on his build. Like, wtf? He can blow up a carry at any moment of the game with item 1402 and item 3116, even being tank as hell . If he hits you with his bandage, you're gone. Last time I checked, he had 54% win rate and he's always between the best ones. I think he deserves some nerfs, just saying.

He's only a real problem in low ELO, though. Yes, he's strong, but he isn't played as much in higher ELOs (I don't think, I'm bronze man). Whether it's because people dodge the bandage there or know how to buy a QSS (HINT HINT, that's how you beat him), or just because he's just not high enough skill cap for them to be able to make it into an interesting stream highlights video, I just don't think they play him.

However, some high ELO players have said that for us plebs down here on the bottom of the ladder, he is broken and pick or ban. So, pick him, ban him, or buy a QSS and make him useless, your choice.

Amumu hasn't been changed in years. Why are people just now complaining about him?

Amumu isn't a great pick in higher ELOs due to several factors.

  • He is a poor duelist (weak to invades)
  • His escape is situational (requires an enemy/neutral unit in your escape route)
  • He is reliant on mana (needs to keep blue buff rather than giving it to the mid-laner)
  • His ultimate has a high cooldown and he is reliant on it

In addition, Amumu is a rather simple and telegraphed champion. When he uses his Bandage Toss to initiate a fight (which is a rather slow skillshot), you know that he is going to use his ultimate to lock you down (since that's all he really can do with it aside from peel). Higher ranked players misposition less frequently and know to avoid grouping up against him, so he is much less useful.

Personally, I find Amumu rather limited and one-dimensional. I have trouble finding a reason to use him over a different, more flexible tank such as:

  • Sejuani (non-conditional dash, ranged AOE stun, stronger CC, primary damage ability scales with health)
  • Zac (better sustain, manaless, great engage/disruption, makes use of uncommon gank paths)
  • Gragas (non-conditional escape, stronger early ganks, sustain, ultimate useful for disruption/picks/disengage, sustain)
  • Nautilus (better CC, better engage/lockdown, more consistent CC, stronger ganks)

It helps that the above champions scale significantly better with health items than Amumu does and require fewer stats be built. Compared to them, Amumu tends to need mana, AP and magic pen in larger amounts (which makes him squishier for his damage).

he is so slow. in lower elo hes strong cause he has a strong lategame/post jungling phase and reaches this because he doesnt really get counterjungled or punished in any other way
