How are you supposed to know if you lag if Riot doesn't show you your ping?

Just got into a game with unplayable lag. I still had enough bandwith to load a video or something so I don't know why it keeps lagging this bad. But if Riot would at least show you your ping there are 10+ year old games with more advanced features than this game... I simply don't get it why this game is still so primitive after they make millions upon millions. And this ping issue is just one example.

Doesn't that only show frame rate though? I feel like there was a setting or something you had to change for it to show ping as well.
