These are my opinions. I'm often rebuked. But it's how I play. Try it out, see how you feel.

I don't care what role you play, but you should try to always have a pink up somewhere. If theres opponents with stealth mechanics especially, but even otherwise, a infinite duration ward that reveals other wards is very useful.

If you're support or some junglers, you'll want a sightstone (possibly in the form of the machete upgrade) to ward with in addition to pinks, and then you can either get blue trinket or a sweeper (probably a sweeper).

For everyone else, either the standard yellow trinket or the blue are both viable since they fiddled with the cooldowns. Yellow is on a shorter cooldown so can provide more consistent vision, but the blue wards are long range and also have infinite duration until they're found. I lean to blue myself when I adc as warding safely otherwise can be tricky, but yellow is perfectly viable too.
