So apparently evry1 hates zed..

Playing against a zed isnt too hard for me, let me make a suggestion for you all who hate zed. If you want to learn to play against a champion, then master that champion yourself. You will see where zeds weaknesses are and you will see where he screws up and when to go in, the window is short but when you abuse his window all he has are basic attacks to hit you with.

TIPS: (aside from zhonyas or qss because apparently people dont think that is possible)

  • Zed always appears behind you after he ults, take advantage of this and time your skillshots to appear where he spawns.

  • Against zed you should definitely not be pushing your wave to his turret, when he ults you you have about a second to walk into your turret, this can either force him to go back right away, have him take lots of damage from the tower and you, or he dies if he doesnt r back in time.

  • Zeds r does a low final spark damage at level 6, this is survivable when played correctly, the only times you really need QSS or Zhonyas is when he hits level 11 and 16, (although the earlier the better.)

  • Ask your jungler to gank while his w is down, his w is his weakness while it is down.

  • champions like lissandra are pretty good against zed because liss can zhonya herself or stun with her r while zed ults.

  • If you are having a rough time still, ask your top lane to switch lanes as the top lane is likely much more tanky and can handle zeds harass a bit better.

WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS:

  • Roam elsewhere to help them get ahead, its not the end of the game when you lose lane if you can make top or bot win their lane.

I hope this helped you and I will be sure to add in somethings in case i missed them in this post.

From a Support perspective, I like the enemy Zed; Exhaust him as he's going to my carry to Ult, and poof, he hits like a wet noodle and his team flames him for what should've been an easy gank.

From Mid, Zhonya's counter Ult, dodge his stars to win lane.

Yes it's oversimplified, but hey, not everything can always be countered anyway.

Of course, but its the mid lanes who constantly complain about a champion who had very few weaknesses, but those weaknesses are overly obvious.

you see, that's a wonderful idea except that zed's abilities automatically shove the wave.

like, if he WEQs you and misses, he still clears the minion wave. so you can't attack him because you'll get murdered by his minions when you do.

also, zed is better at following up and escaping from ganks than most mid champions, so it's best not to involve the jungler. you'll just end up getting double killed by a countergank that way.

If he shoves the wave, most champions simply counter by...shoving back. Unless you're Gangplank. Sorry shipmate, not until you have your first full item can you do that :3

If he shoves the wave and you aren't a manaless champion or have massive low cost AOE moves then Zed is going to constantly out shove you and he will never have to go back to base either. He will win one way or the other.

But if you arent confident enough or you are blind to see the counterplay than you should learn to play zed and find his weakness. He isnt all that hard to play vs, trust me. All you need is plenty of experience against him.

sure you can shove it back, but you're going to exhaust your mana pool pretty quickly doing that and zed's energy tank is full every 20 seconds, which is conveniently equal to the cooldown of his rank 1 shadow :D

Nothing wrong with farming under turret if you're using too much mana to push (especially if Jungler doesn't hand you the 2nd blue)

minion autos only really matter lvls 1-8...

that's not true at all. minions can block skillshots and scale throughout the game. their existence is never irrelevant.

minion AUTOS. I agree with you though, they are always relevant to the game.

People like you are ignorant to the fact that he HAS weaknesses. You said it yourself, zed just weq, his entire kit is on cd, get a gank up in this bitch or harass him yourself while he cant retaliate. and if you are literally sitting in his minion wave auto attacking him to pull minion aggro at early levels, maybe you should uninstall? ;)

So by that logic it basically means "You can't prevent him from farming because he'll just all in you so he can push YOU to your turret then roam"

explain how that's meant to stop zed getting ahead or shutting him down?

  • Ask your jungler to gank while his w is down, his w is his weakness while it is down.

Too bad it's only got an 18 second cooldown at max rank and till then he can safely farm with his Q from a distance if your jungle is somehow able to use that stupidly short window

  • If you are having a rough time still, ask your top lane to switch lanes as the top lane is likely much more tanky and can handle zeds harass a bit better.

Your top laner also will most likley be Melee with zero poke meaning Zed can have a field day poking him, Csing and of course, Roaming

All you've suggested is ether things that will make you break even or still have Zed get ahead, There is nothing there that will outright shut him down like pretty much every other champion in the game

This post is not meant to show you how to obliterate a zed player, its how to manage it in a way. You can still poke him from farming, you can last hit minions. You can farm under tower and be a bit more anti-all in while within its radius as your damage output will likely be higher.

Not as much asking in the moment, but say something like " if you are waiting in a bush to gank my lane do it after zeds w is down so he cant escape so easily" of course 18 secs isnt enough time, thats more so for the jungler to manage.

Its new meta, if its not a pokey ap top then its a hard tank top, zed cant do shit against a malphite with 2k hp and 200 armor until he gets last whisper, not to say this will work every time but its just a suggestion.

How in any way is playing a safe game going to get him ahead? if you play passive (like all players should be unless they are 100 % confident) then zed can't snowball out of control. with pressure from jungler and some turret range pokes zed wont be able to farm as easily(assuming you've frozen your lane outside your turret) He will be vulnerable to ganks as his w will be the only was he can reach the ranged cs under your tower unless he last hits with q.

Heard of the concept that is Roaming? where a Mid laner shoves to turret then wanders to another lane (normally bot) to gank and help the lane out? Zed has such powerful waveclear and is highly mobile enough to shove to your turret then be halfway to another lane before your jungler arrives at mid. worse part is Zed doesn't really lose out on it, oh your team saw him coming and backed off, ok well walk back to lane and use the wave clear to catch up, lane didn't see him coming? free kills or summoners, lane pushed to the turret? incoming safe as hell tower dive/free turret, your chasing after him, well now he can turn around and delete you, not to mention Zed doesn't NEED to get ahead, that's the difference, most assassins struggle to do their job if they only break even, Zed on the other hand does his job even if slightly behind because his power spikes come from items that don't even need to be fully built.

All you've given is suggestions to survive Zed, ones we know, the issue here is "how to stop Zed" or "how to shut him down" because you'll see that minus the age old "CC him" or "Camp his lane" excuse (both of which aren't very effective anyways) there pretty much isn't one

AbstracT Theory1 votes

Roaming, if zed has waveclear then leaves your lane, if you are in lane shove it back... you will damage his turret in the 30 secs - 1 min he is gone. the "MIA" ping is beautiful so if your team doesnt back off after you MIA then its their problem for not paying attention. Any champion will be ahead when fed. CC is extremely effective against zed and you act like getting ccd for 2 seconds in a teamfight is no big deal, usually if you are stunned for 2 seconds and you are on the enemy carry, the enemy team is gonna focus you like crazy and kill you quick. If zed is behind its not enough to call it quits and let him catch up, you need to come together as a team before he catches up and end the game. Im sorry to say but saying that nothing can be done is ignorant and you really need to realise that. Something can always be done to everyone. "camp his lane" can be very effective, if you gank while his w is down and he flashes, you must return to lane after he wastes w to harass or waveclear. Zed is roaming too much? great, buy the upgraded trinket and place a 3 min ward ever 60 seconds and use that to block the fog of war in the river or his most used path. You cant go into every game expecting to crush and destroy every single laner, surviving is what you sometimes have to deal with, so... Deal with it.

Tik1151 votes

I don't expect to crush every lane but I expect there to be a way to effectively shut down the Zed, which again you have just been saying the crap we already know to just survive.

"Wait till his W is down and burn his flash" again, 18 seconds CD, you expect a jungler to use that small window? by the time they get to the mid lane half of that CD will of been done, lets also not forget that with it he can clear and poke further then a Xerath so if he's getting camped he can just WQE while still near his turret and as for CC most of the time he can get part of his combo off and get out before the first bit of CC hits, I've seen Zeds go REQR and get out before a Leona Q hit them and instantly won the teamfight because the squishy took too much damage to take part.

All you have been suggesting is how to survive the laning phase but I have yet to see you give a valid way to shut down a Zed like you can do any other champion.
