Who Should I One Trick?

F1SHEYES··3 votes·3,071 views

I play Top/Jungle. Right now I'm considering Jhin , Kayn , Kennen , Nasus , Rengar , LeeSin , Riven , Vladimir , Yorick , maybe even Zac . Which one of these should I buy and why? Is there anyone else I should consider?

No one. Cause riot will rework your champ into something different and then youlk be a no trick instead of a one trick.

Well, at least main..

Riven Is tried and true

Kayn is decent i guess

the rest are so simplistic that they become FotM champs

Nasus is fun and easy once you learn him. And there is no stopping a mid/late game Nasus that is a one trick on his champ.

Zac is a good jungler to main. Most junglers one trick either Zac, Kha, or Master Yi because theyre just so easy to carry with.

Riven is good when you master her. But you will lose mostly all your games for the first 500 games, then once you get 1k games on her you should be plat/diamond by then.

Vlad has a lot of outplay potential and can be very easy to carry with if you one trick him.

Kayn is fun but takes too long to master.

The rest are either a big NO (lee sin especially), or just boring champs you cant really carry with. Jhin for instance cant carry that well in this meta currently.

I for one main Jayce Top Lane. I have 15 accounts specifically for nothing but Jayce (unless he gets banned/i get autofilled). And all of those accounts have made it to plat+ 3 being in diamond. And this is my current smurf. But I wouldnt recommend Jayce, because he takes wayyyy too long to master. I have over 2.5k games on him and have only been able to reach to low diamond. I personally would recommend one tricking someone easier, then you can switch later on when you get to plat or so.

My personal recommendations:

Fiora Azir Jax Katarina Kayle KogMaw MasterYi Leona Nasus Shen Vladimir Yasuo Xerath Taliyah Velkoz Draven

All of the champions I listed have a high payoff of mastering and will get you to high elo. Most of them are fun to play due to skill shots and outplay potential. But just know, high skill cap = lots of games to play on them in order to truly see how good that champ is. The hardest one I listed imo is Taliyah, I have only seen 2 good Taliyahs my whole time playing this game. She just requires so much skill that players lack, but she can win just about any game if you one trick her.

As for Jayce, unless you wanna be like me and play 2.5k games on a champ just to somewhat master him, then id look for another champ. He just requires too much, you have to know where to be, where to shoot, all his mechanics, his hops, his outplays, how to outplay, theres just too much to him to master. Its the same with Riven. So save yourself some time and dont main Jayce/Riven, unless you really want to dedicate that much time into maining them.

tldr;

Dont play Jayce/Riven, they take too long to master. Never play Lee Sin. Taliyah/Azir would be the best champs to one trick in the mid lane. Draven/Kalista is the best ADC to main in bot lane. Leona is best support. Zac/Kha/Yi are best junglers. Jax/Shen/Kayle is best in top lane.

What about Kennen? I will probably try Nasus/Vlad, do any of these get boring after a lot of games?

Well every champion is boring when you start one tricking them lol. I actually quit league because I got bored of one tricking Jayce, I only had like 150 games on Jayce then. But then I came back and forced myself to play him, and eventually I just couldnt stop playing him. Id try other champs, and just wanted to play Jayce everytime I have played him.

Nasus can be boring but also can be fun depending on your style. Every game you start off fresh, meaning all those stacks you worked hard for last game, are gone and you have to start fresh. Some dont like this, some do like this. Its all on your play stile.

Vlad is fun to play due to the outplay you bring. You can literally go invincible by casting your pool, ult and e, and get a penta. Most people dont even build Grevious Wounds in bronze-low Diamond for some reason, so Vlad is literally cheese if you one trick him. But like all champions, he will get boring your first hundred or so games with him.

So yes, the champions will get boring after a lot of games due to you trying to learn them. But once you get better at them, you will want to play only them.

Kennen I am unsure of. Because I rarely see him played at all, and I have only played him a few times. He can be a very good top laner due to his ultimate, he can easily 1v5 if he gets fed, but 1 cc screws him over entirely making his ult useless. But his ult can also turn games around when you ult over a wall and stun all 5 enemies. If youre going to play kennen top, then you have to make sure to roam a lot, otherwise youre useless.

If youre just looking for champs that are fun to play.

I was actually seriously considering him, but almost everyone said he was boring or team reliant.

To me he isnt boring, he is team reliant in a way, but then again many other champs or team reliant as well.

I've playing loads of Shen on the PBE and he is so much better to play with the new runes.

also check out /r Shen

EDIT: Also Nasus is fun as well, he'll be strong with the new runes haha

Don't one trick, unless you're really that passionate with any of the champions.

It's not really worth it. Go play what you feel like.

Dr Dog1 votes

Jayce or Quinn , both easy lane bullys with decent room to improve, plus Quinn can top, jungle and mid if you want and has decently adaptive build paths, while jayce can stomp in literally any tier so you wont have too many troubles while climbing

Jax is perhaps the best split-pusher in the game, and is also an okay Jungler. If there's anyone to one-trick, he's probably the best at taking games, putting them on your back, and carrying your team in every situation. It'll teach you the art of splt pushing so that you know how to respond to it in the future, and you'll learn tons about map pressure and objective control.

Also, he works in about every comp.

Honestly, I had a huge amount of success refining a slightly off-meta pick. I climbed to Gold this season using Quinn ADC and Top.

Well since you said you play top and jungle, Rengar is one of the most fun champions IMO and can be played top and jungle. Riven is also really fun but I never really got the hang of her. Maybe you will though. Best of luck finding a 1 trick.

If you want to one trick someone go someone with a really high skill cap. Other people have already said these but Azir Katarina Yasuo Riven Kayn Camille
