My Thoughts on Orianna AA nerf..

Hi Riot. I played Orianna not to long ago and I have felt the drastic poke difference that 6 base dmg did. I know a lot of people think it didn't do very much but it has hurt Orianna early game quite a bit especially when someone such as Yasuo , buys a item 1054 then the dmg is reduced by 8 for basic attacks...

Her Passive is :Orianna autoattacks deal 10 / 18 / 26 / 34 / 42 / 50 (+ 15% AP) bonus magic damage on-hit; any subsequent attack on the same target generates a stack of Clockwork Winding, increasing Clockwork Windup's damage by 20%, stacking up to two times. The stacks reset if Orianna attacks a different target or doesn't attack for 4 seconds.

So let's assume it's lvl 1 and we'll calculate the dmg difference.

Her Base Dmg before was 47 AD her passive at lvl 1 gives her + 10 dmg. Pre Nerf Orianna Damage : 1st attack : 57 Dmg, 2nd Attack 57 Dmg + 20% of AA = 68.4 , Third attack 68.4 Dmg + 20% of AA = 82.08, So added up it's 57 + 68.4 + 82.08 = 207.48 total damage after 3 basic attacks and maxing passive dmg. This is not including possible AP dmg or anything like that or enemies armour.

Her Base Dmg now is 41 AD her passive at lvl 1 gives her + 10 dmg. Nerfed Orianna Damage: 1st attack : 51 Dmg, 2nd Attack 51 Dmg + 20% of AA = 61.2 , Third attack 61.2 Dmg + 20% of AA = 73.44, So added up it's 51 + 61.2 + 73.44 = 185.64 total damage after 3 basic attacks and maxing passive dmg. 207.48 - 185.64 = 21.84 Damage Difference at level 1.

Total Damage decrease with no AD or AP is 21.84 Damage. Now this may seem small but that damage difference only get's higher into late game. With more AP and AD. So I don't know why you would nerf a balanced champ like Orianna who takes a lot more skill thanAnnie , Fizz , Ziggs and Syndra and yet you leave these lane bullies pretty much untouched (NoteSyndra may be the most op mid laner late game)...Also as I said about the item 1054 it reduces the dmg by 8 so that's a drastic decrease already and basically a counter item for Orianna early game.. This actually drives me away from Orianna quite a bit as there are many champs with a stronger early game and late game, and are much easier to use. Also if you think about it, her range is 525 and Syndra is 550. This already makes it hard enough to poke early since she has to get so close and early game minion aggro makes it dangerous. Not just that but her W takes a ton of mana early game and is hard enough to land against mobile champions. Also you all buffed Lux (one of my favourite champions) who has amazing scaling, cc and lane safety and as well as a aa range of 550. Not just that but her E has such wide blast radius and I really think you all might want to consider buffing Orianna W radius. So I just want you all to bring me back my Orianna so I can play ranked with her happily again please. Because in all honesty she is not the one to be targeted as far as early game bullies go...cough * Annie *. Thanks alot for reading all of this Summoners..

As always a Bonus Video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2PeBlKH7DQ

Due to the use of her ball for most of her harass at all stages of the game, and then after level 2, for defense, Orianna has a /very/ safe laning phase as she can out-range almost any opponent and stop any chase with the combination of Ball's slow and then shield. I only don't agree that she takes more skill to play because I am a highly unskilled player by all regards and I was able to do reasonably well with her (positive K/D) the first time I ever tried her. This trend of doing surprisingly well with her continued in subsequent games, so it wasn't just a fluke.

Opinions vary but I do not consider Orianna to be a high skill-cap champ. She has very good poke/harass early game and doesn't need to rely on her AA at all to win lane, it just served to make her overpowered.

I found my playstyle with her broke down to: Are they standing behind their minions? Yes. Throw Ball at them. Are they coming after me? Yes. Throw Ball at them. Shield self with Ball. Move to Turret. Are you in a team fight? Yes. Shield an Ally with Ball. Throw Ball at the densest cluster of enemies. Use Ultimate. Use slow. Shield self.

I never felt threatened because I never needed to AA. I could do all my damage and slow and kill enemies without ever getting close enough for them to return fire. This does not even count in the surprising length of Ori's AA.

Basically, Her AA got nerfed because she already had an all-too-safe laning phase and the high damage just made things unbalanced.

I wouldn't say all to safe considering Lux and Syndra. It's not like her laning phase isn't safe but I don't see the need for the nerf all the same. I mean yes she is still good but it's taken out some of the profit in playing Orianna. Also don't forget Azir that little safe laner he is..

Eh, just play her cuz she's fun to play. I'm sure you'll find a way to work around missing 6 AD.

I still play Skarner because I love the Bug, even if I am still trying to figure out the right build for the right situation since his....update.

It's not that I don't find it fun but it would be like if they nerfed Garen in anyway..

I like Garen, but I have a hard time at top depending on match up. I can shut down Diana, Shyvana, Poppy, a couple others. But if I get matched with a Shen, Zed, Irelia, Fiora, or anyone with decent ranged poke (especially if the poke deals magic damage), then gods help me. I'm either struggling to stay afloat all game or I get completely shut down. Garen has to be played very carefully because he has absolutely no ranged and only one good escape. If you pop Decisive Strike too soon, you're gonna get hit with a slow and blown up.

Well I find that odd because in my case I haven't found a suitable counter to Garen yet. Because against Fiora and Zed I find it quite easy to counter them as when they farm all I have to do is Silence them then E. I tend to take 2 points into Q by lvl 4 then max E after. I don't find Garen easily countered in any scenario not even AP mages. Especially as his W is excellent if activated at the right time.

My problem has been that champs like Fiora and Zed have just overwhelming damage, and for all of Garen's damage reduction, they will win exchanges with me and I either have to run fast or die. The silence doesn't tend to bother those two very much because A) it isn't very long, and B) they can get by with only AA for a second or two. I do the same, with Q and E I can usually bully people out of their farm, but for some reason Fiora and Zed just don't care. I don't build any damage on my Garen. I go all TANK except that I start with Doran's Blade because it grants the same HP as Doran's Shield but also lifesteal. After that I build item 3068 item 3143 item 3065 item 3102 item 3022 and boots somewhere in there. either Mobility or Swiftness depending on money.

Well that's an error I dare say to start with the Blade since Dorans shield synergizes with his passive extremely well. Also my build is item 3068 item 3142 OR item 3071, item 3009 item 3065 item 3143 item 3083 the item 3083 with his passive basically makes him regen 30 or soemthing health per seecond. Also Zed and Fiora unless really fed need their abilities to fight otherwise if you silence zed after his ult he will do little dmg. Or if you courage just as it goes off, same applies to Fiora. Garen is alot about timing since he can silence W and spin and just run away after not giving the enemy time to retaliate. Also 2.5 second silence is a very long silence that's actually why I max it first against melee casters like Riven.
