Ornn is fine. It's just his mana cost that are still a tad too high. Even considering his passive.

His combo prettymuch requires all 3 basic abilities to pull off. And each has a very high mana cost. He needs to not have cheap spammable abilities due to the nature of his kit. But his combo is just a tad costly, especially early.

Tuning the mana costs by 5 here and there, maybe even 10 on one should fix the problems he's having. Or am I missing something and it's mostly other factors. If so , what do you think they are?

I don't think it is his mana costs, but it does have to do with his combo. If I play him I play him jg, so I do end up getting blue buffs and more mana regen in jg.

His q takes an obnoxiously long time to appear after being cast (talking about the actual pillar), which makes his combo extremely delayed and unreliable. They are actually reducing the time it takes to appear next patch I believe, along with other big buffs.

Looking at them, they are probably going to absolutely break him.

I think he had a mid patch update on the first that reduced the Q delay. His updates are listed in the last set of patch notes.

They did, it turns out the people who made that patch post included the mid-patch buffs. So they aren't as hype as I thought. The ult movespeed will help a lot (unless you somehow can't time it properly to hit it).

Looking at them now, since 99% of those buffs are from this patch, he is still going to be trash. I rescind my last comment.

He's kinda like Sion in that he probably won't fit into every team comp, which probably doesn't help. I think part of him feeling like trash is that he's fairly team reliant, especially since his damage seems lower than most tanks (% target max hp vs %current target max health for example), which to me is ok, but is probably a result in part to the whole ordeal of tanks supposedly dealing too much damage. His CC, when used properly can be quite impactful, and there's more decision making than "I'm just going to throw all my spells", especially his ult ("what is the best way to maximize it's effect").

The fact that Sona, Janna, and Lulu are common supports right now doesn't help him at all either.

I don't know, I'd rather they take him slow rather than overbuff him and have to nerf him to oblivion.

They seem to be buffing every part of his kit except the actual problem. Mana and cooldowns. Lets see how that works out. I like that they are essentially making his abilities strong but costly. You will actually run out of mana if you try to poke and trade your opponent out of the lane. But he is strong during his combo.

The issue with this is that it turns him into Leona. Good combo, and then stuck disengaging or just autoattacking (the clap is very satisfying tho). Leona Top does not work. Leona Jungle does not work. Tada, Ornn turns into a support because he can't lane against anything with decent sustain. Or anything with actual dps and decent base stats to survive his combo and then counter engage. Or range poke-champs that counter these tanks, bruisers and Tryndamere.

So...prettymuch anything that defines the Toplane meta...

Yeah I 100% think he is better in jg than toplane because of the mana regen, and his w+e combo works wonders on raptors, krugs, and wolves.

I love that we are back to a gamestate where Tank Junglers are viable again. But I have to say that I dislike that they are vehemently pushing Ornn (and others)into the Jungle and Support role. While he would have made such a nice Toplaner.
