Ranked changes gonna increase toxicity

Someone else can get into the specifics of position ranks, I'll just mention that people aren't gonna try as hard if they get filled or put into their non-main position since it's a separate rank. That alone will increase toxicity. Additionally this screws over fill mains since they play different roles the most; instead of having to work on 1 rank, they will now have 5 positions separately.

Next is the tier changes. Currently there are 25 ranks from Bronze 5 to Diamond 1. Starting at Bronze 5, that's 24 promotional series (20 three game series & 4 five game series).

Because of Iron now, there are only 24 ranks from Iron 4 to Diamond 1. However, there will now be 5 five game series (19 three game series). It's common knowledge that promos are the most toxic games, partly since you can't dodge, perhaps because of increased pressure to win, and perhaps Riot's hidden agenda to artificially increase the difficulty of promotional games.

So now we get an extra 5 game series. It doesn't sound like much, but if you're starting from the bottom it's not an improvement. I really don't understand the addition of Iron when considered alongside the removal of 5th ranks. There is actually 1 LESS rank from lowest to highest (not including the less than 1% of hardcore players in Masters+).

So how exactly do these changes more accurately rank players or improve the ranked system overall? The only positive I can see is that Bronze players will feel better because there's someone even worse than them now. Also Diamond 4s are no longer Diamond 5s so they can stroke their ego more. I feel like there's some hidden agenda.

Thoughts?

Pretty sure that's why they created splash LP. So people have an incentive to try when autofilled.

Fill only has to work on 5 different ranks for the first 10 games per position (50 games total). After that, their "Fill" choosing will raise all roles, not just one, and there is bonus consideration for filling.

  1. The bigger problem is now we have 12 ranks under Gold, where we used to only have 10. We actually increased the difficulty to get to Gold.

Most people will not have to deal with the Iron Promotionals, and those who do, will probably find winning them far easier than Bronze or Silver. It shouldn't be that hard to discern enough skill at that point.

  1. The not so hidden Agenda: Segregate low elos more, separating skill from toxicity/latency etc. Iron Will result in Latency and Extremely toxic players plummeting to the bottom, leaving Bronze/Silver more to players who portray some iota of skill, have good latency, but for some reason or another can't carry enough (Toxic revolutions, Panic plays, poor technology, Ham handing).
