Why is there a timer on Honors?

I mean, it doesn't really seem reasonable. What if I want to enjoy a post game chat with some of my teammates- and maybe look at their stats in the game- before I go using my only honor in a game where maybe multiple people deserved one? If I minimize the honor tab, and it times out, I'm shit outta luck, and so is another player who deserved an honor.
