The real problem with Azir

So most of you are probably thinking Azir is underpowered and really just deserves a buff, while for solo queue, that is right, his compeditive appearence is just something else. Azir is a champion with so many strengths and so little cons. Let's take a look at what Azir is good at.

  1. Sieging His passive is so good for sieging as it allows his team to be at somewhat safe ground when pushing mid. Not only does it give a turret, but a turret on steoroids which gets increased damage based on his ability power.

  2. Pushing Azir's damage all comes from AoE magic damage. His ability to deal sustained damage with his attack speed and AoE attacks makes a start pushing machine.

  3. Poking Let's not take too much in this. We all know what is gonna happen when Azir hits level 2.

  4. Escaping Even when you gank the emperor, he still has some ways of getting away. While yes, this takes alot of mana to do, it still doesn't make your lane opponent 300g richer.

  5. Selfpeeling Azir's ultimate is a game breaker by not only making a wall, but a wall that can't be dashed through. Not only that, but it also gets freaking huge the longer the game goes, making an experienced Azir player a star teamfighter

  6. Shurima Shuffle The play that can catch so many people and decide so many teamfights, but people in solo dynamic queue still messes up and dies instantly.

  7. Burst Don't tell me you haven't seen Azir W-Q and 2 auto an ad carry before, where as someone like Zed requires to go in and possibly use and ultimate just to get one kill. Azir might not have the same 1 on 1 power as Zed, but then you group

That said, Azir is a champion with so many options that dynamic queue players can't adapt to. Either it is the player on their own, or the teammates. Azir isn't bad because he is hard, he is bad because there is too many options. Champions like Yasuo and Vayne are also considered hard, yet good in dynamic queue, but bad in LCS. These champions might be overtuned, bullshit and hated, but they don't have the same power in their kit as Azir has.

I've linked my first pentakill with Azir to show off this champion's strength. His ability to entirely annihilate multible enemies. What do you think would happen if I was any other champion? I would have been dead when that Evelynn jumped on me

Riot even mentioned that Azir is an overtuned champion in one of their podcasts on Azir nerfs

Meddler also mentioned something about Azir changes

"Azir's kit is sufficiently difficult to learn that it doesn't seem to currently be possible to put him in a spot where he's sufficiently balanced for experienced players without being extremely inaccessible to people unfamiliar with him. Learning curve and skill ceiling are great of course, in this case Azir's skill floor's too punishing though. Current intent is to look at ways to make him somewhat more accessible, with if needs be, some nerfs to his top end if those changes buff him there too."

Azir's good and quite strong… for the extremely small group of people who are professional/LCS-level or otherwise absurdly skilled.

For everyone else, he's effectively bad. Not even Plat+ players with 125+ games do well with him. His WR is negative for almost every single possible factor, matchup, build, etc.

He shouldn't be easy at all, that's a terrible idea. (Not saying you suggested that, just saying in general). However, Plat+ players with lots of experience should at least be doing somewhat better.

People are so quick to call him OP/whatever. But his WR continuously DECREASES from Bronze to Challenger, because people figure out and learn how to play against him. He literally has a 46-47% something winrate. Literally all the data points otherwise. But of course, people would rather just cry about the super skilled Azir players who are professionals at League and can actually do well with Azir… except those players will never ever be in their games.

I think it's a problem that Azir has all these strengths with the downsides of low numbers. He is forced to be nerfed into the ground because he does all these things no other champion in the game does

leading to a whooping 47% winrate (50% with mains) + 30-40% winrate after nerfs.

I'm not talking winrates here, but his completely overloaded kit with abilities unlike any other champion

Because its true?! Why would pros play him at 47%wr if it wasnt because his kit is overloaded and broken beyond belief?
