Honestly am i just crazy and dont see its power at all? what mage would want to take GLP over the other 2? its advertised as one for the control/cc heavy mages but they tend to be able to wokr well better with Ludens or Archangels..
Archangels is quietly becoming the new 'morellos' must-buy item. This is partially because of how good it is universally, but its ALSO because the only mana-themed rune in the Sorcery Tree keeps getting nerfed. This is going to become a problem down the line, I predict.
Not really sure how I feel about Ludens currently. It's okay. I don't think it outshines the rest of the AP items, currently.
as for GLP - I think it's better than your average player thinks, and certainly not a bad choice by any means. The big drawback is the active is really the big reason WHY you buy the item, and it's not an easy active to use, so many players tend to shy away from it.
Real talk: This is going to sound crazy, but I think 
should be completely removed or reworked, and 
should inherit the passive 'frost' effect from Rylais. Effectively replacing its current 'active' effect. Giving the item an 'automated' effect would simplify its use, and a lot of people would jump on it, and see how good it really is.

GLP just doesn't feel as good as it used to because of the current build path and the changes to the bolts.
Most people also don't take GLP because they don't normally use it. Most of these people rush RoA or Arch.
Used to be ideal to rush it on these champs:

The changes to Luden's and Arch has also benefitted a lot of mages that rely on them. This might be a huge reason as to why GLP is being overshadowed.
Champs such as 
just have an easier time reaching their desired power spikes.
I used to have an entire build centered around GLP. Glacial Augment into GLP into Iceborn Gauntlet for permaslow, semi-tanky build with an unreasonable amount of fun attached to it, but it was also legitimately viable and didn't feel like shit to buy in most matchups.
Now when I try to fit GLP into my build it's a chore and I feel like I need to justify it, but most of the time I just can't.
