Galio slight tweaks?

As a Galio main with ~800 games with him season 4, I feel like he could use some slight tweaks. Don't get me wrong, I like him how he is but he could definitely use some help, a slight help. His Q and W are fine, but his passive and E and maybe R are having trouble. I've read that changes to him will be coming soon but those were months ago? I'm not sure.

Anyways, supposedly he is a tank but building like one certainly doesn't feel as impactful as other champs with tanky builds can be like Renekton Gnar JarvanIV Maokai Malphite. There are a small amount of tanky items that benefit your passive item 3065,item 3102, that's it, and to make it worse, you don't even need much MR these days because team comps are mostly AD heavy with assassins and stuff. Overall, there are not so many itemizations for him.

Building AP feels much better but using your 3 abilities in a row leaves you with a considerable amount of time of uselessness, your ult leaves you in a risky place and you don't have an ability to get to safety.

His Q is fine in my opinion, W as well. His E though could use some help, certainly the movement speed it gives you helps you 0% to setup a good ult because everyone has a jump/dash or some kind of form to CC you lightly, enough to get away, and it doesn't do much damage either unless building almost full AP, but it is certainly good to chase down surviving enemies. Though when using it to retreat, sometimes its small cast time gives the enemy enough time to catch you and CC you, dead. R is really hard to set up, which I think its not so bad because it is a strong ult, but adding the fact that it is so easily accidentaly interrupted makes it lame sometimes, and even if you do manage to setup a good ult and kind of lucky it didn't get interrupted immediately, the enemies will most likely have tenacity and might possibly flash away after 1 sec of taunting before, they take damage. But I guess its part of the challenge since it's a strong ult.

So I guess the real problems are his passive and E, because his passive can't be really utilized at its maximum unless the enemy is AP heavy and that case is basically non-existant. And his E is just kind of meh. I've read they are planning on making MR ratios into his abilities and giving a new passive, but it has been a really long time since Galio is even mentioned in patches, anyone knows about this? In my opinion, a good tweak to his E would be that it could slow enemies down when walking in the opposite direction of the wind, a healthy mechanic? Well those are my thoughts, what do you guys think?

In my opinion, his E has some utility, but it's not a very determinant move. His kit has nice skills, but these skills are not wonderful in-combo.

E is inconsistent and deals a poor damage anyway. The movement speed buff is not always easy to use. W is a big self-buff and is a big buff for friends too, but sometimes your teammates don't even realize that you're shielding someone. Q is strong for poke early game, a bit predictable maybe and not so difficult to dodge, but It's fine.

Overall Q/W/E are very expensive in terms of mana costs. R is expensive as well.

Galio basic attacks are very shity, and he's a melee auto-attacker. It doesn't feel like a good thing, it's hard to last hit with AA and AAs on enemies are nearly useless for a melee champion.

Yeah, you have good thoughts, but I don't necessarily think that he needs tweaks. For me, it's about meta. Galio is an anti-mage. That's what he's intended to be, imo, and I doubt Riot is looking to change that. I feel that the main reason he is not so great is that mages aren't consistently played right now. And it'll always be that way for Galio because he's an anti-mage. I don't have a problem with that.

So, you say his passive bothers you, I say it's amazing. It's just situational. He's not a champ you first pick blind, just like Taric (who should go against AD heavy comps) and Veigar (who benefits from facing AP heavy comps). shrug I like him for what he is.

Now, I can get on board with his E being mediocre. My main complaint with him is the low range on E and R. I think his other two skills are pretty great. I mean, W could have better numbers and be quite a bit more noticeable, but I worry they'd have to nerf his damage too much to buff his tank skill. I don't think of him as a tank, so I want the damage to stay high.

One more thing, you mentioned a bunch of top laners up there to compare the tanks to him. I always play him mid lane (again, anti-mage). Do you play him top a lot?
