Can someone please rate my Graves build?

Asudurga··3 votes·531 views

I've been getting into Graves lately and he's the most fun I have had with an ADC (yes, I play him ADC) because he fits my play-style of play safe then go ham. I've had the most success with this particular build to deal with high damage enemies and tanks all in one and I want the community's response and suggestions.

Thank you.

EDIT: Lol and here come the downvotes. What? A guy can't ask for community feedback without mindless hate? Grow the hell up.

Build path is as follows.

item 3812 --> item 3006 --> item 3046 --> item 3071 --> item 3072 --> item 3036 or item 3033

I give it a 7 out of 10 for no trinket or cigar.

Cleaver could be swapped out for maw or steraks. Cleaver isnt bad tho

Mhm, it helps deal with high health and armour enemies, like in my last game against a tanky as hell Sion.

Doesnt help that your team was basically full AD with a tiny bit of magic damage from the AD tank teemo.

Thats why having mixed damage is helpful because it forces a tank to split two ways.

Not too bad, the double pen seems like overkill and there is probably a better option but your early-mid game build seems fine. A maw or qss might do really well as a replacement.

correct me if I'm wrong but isn't item 3812 Bleed is calculated AFTER resistances, building that on Graves is in fact less effective since he has passive armor and magic resist from true grit on his dash. I'm guessing the healing from his skills is what makes this item attractive on graves though but I'd say to go for another starting item first.

Asudurga1 votes

It's not just that, his auto attacks are AOE due to the shotgun blasts. So he gains the 33% effectiveness from the lifesteal.

Hige1 votes

Death's dance lifesteal is also reduced on AoE ._. it heals 5% per enemy hit... in graves' case it's 5% per pellet so 15% either way.

Unique: Instantly heal for 15% of all physical damage dealt. Area of effect physical damage only heals 5% for every unit affected.

While bloodthirster has 20% lifesteal that's reduced to 6.6% per pellet for a total of 19.8% lifesteal...

BLACK REALM GOD1 votes

But graves has physical damage abilities right? His qwer? This also get lifesteal (pseudo spellvamp for physical attacks) from deaths dance I think and cool down reduction to use them more often. I think.

Hige1 votes

yes that's true, only 33% effective though but still he gets healed from his Q and R, not W since that's magic damage and E is just a dash that does no damage :P

So... What happens when you put static shiv, runaans, cleaver, frozen mallet, infinity edge, and berserker greaves on graves?

Hige1 votes

Ruunan's stacks on top of Graves' passive, each pellet does up to 33% AD and each bolt from hurricane does 25% AD, both stack for a total of 58% AD on side missiles Cleaver... is OP and applies everything everywhere Frozen Mallet is only 33% effective on AoE and Attack speed is kind of wasted on Graves since he has to reload, albeit the reloading time is reduced by attack speed but still.

BLACK REALM GOD1 votes

How much faster is the reload per point of attack speed? And you didn't mention static shivs passive.

Hige1 votes

For every 1% attack speed you get 0.4% of reduced reload time. It caps at 1.22 speed in milliseconds I guess

Static shiv applies only on the target of your autoattack, meaning the center pellet.

So basically....... Hmm... And what about ravenous hydra?

*edit he's considered ranged right?

double edit* the reason why I'm asking is because around season 4 I think there was an issue with some champs in how they were classified. Some melees could buy runaans and some ranged could buy hydra. I remember building both on a mage and neither worked.

Hige1 votes

He is ranged indeed so a Hydra wouldn't proc its passive

rushing ruunan's isn't the best option either, since you delay AD power spikes too much for little benefit (remember the reload thing), I don't really play much Graves either but so far it seems like you're better off building heavy AD first

BLACK REALM GOD1 votes

So does he have any critical scaling abilities like ashes frozen arrow passive? How does his passive scale? I'm starting to think infinity edge, essence reaver, mortal reminder, thornmail, ninja tabi, and black cleaver are the way to go, but black cleaver is something that confuses me. Does the armor bite work for each individual pellet if it hits one target?

Hige1 votes

his critical strikes are... odd, since it doesn't work like a regular crit.

Regular crits add 100% AD damage to an autoattack, 150% AD if you have item 3031 but in Graves' case instead of doubling his autoattack damage and shooting 4 pellets, he shoots 6 pellets in a wider cone and all of them have a bonus damage of 40% x (1 + bonus critical dmg) AD. You can read more about that on the Wiki: http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Graves

The thing with Graves is that if you hit more than one pellet, then your damage goes through the roof! so he needs to be in close range in order to maximize his damage potential, for consistency's sake, let's do a fairly easy calculation:

with a item 3031 you get 150% critical damage and 70 AD, let's bring the AD value to 100 so it's easier to calculate things, in that case each pellet would do:

Formula: 40%AD x (1 + bonus crit dmg) 40 x (1 + 1.5) = 40 x 2.5 = 100

In this case a crit adds 100 bonus damage to each pellet

the first pellet that hits has a maximum value of 100%, so the first pellet hit does: 200 damage

Subsequent pellets are only 33% effective, so each one does: 133 damage.

Given the case that you hit all 6 pellets then: 133 x 5 = 665 + 200 (from first pellet) = 865 damage

Of course, hitting all 6 pellets is pretty risky and almost impossible to be honest since the cone widens up, but theoretically it's possible.

I'm thinking runaans cleaver blade of the ruined king essence reaver infinity edge boots of swiftness. Swapping out boots of swiftness for berserker greaves against heavy armored enemies and ninja tabi against certain attack speed champs (like jinx)

that being said I have no idea how to build graves and I'm bronze v with a win loss percentage of 35% and a total of 140+ matches in the bronze division.

I would switch black cleaver with IE. Actually, i start IE for good burst in lane (you get enough sustain from masteries) and after shoes go either Death's Dance (if the enemy has lots of poke) or PD for better skrimishing.

BT is nice, but i prefer reaver for more reliable crits, mana and cooldown which graves needs all of those, DD is enough for sustain with your abilities and crits.

For armor pen either take black cleaver or the whisper series depends on the situation.

Again! This is for ADC graves, if you have a good comp and aren't the one who's supposed to tank in teamfights.

I should mention my KDA from the games I went with my mentioned build. One on ARAM where I got two pentakills, 37/10/14 (win) Then in summoner's rift as ADC 24/9/20 (win) Another rift game 8/8/17 (loss)

I think you can check my match history if you have doubts.

at adc maybe item 3142 item 3087 item 3031 item 3072 with either item 3053 or item 3156 with whatever item 1001

MunchCrunchLunch1 votes

dont buy both BC and a lw item

drop the last item. and grab either item 3031 or item 3156

personally. i tried black cleaver on him cpl times. doesn't work that well. it seems like it does but hes better grabbing other items

i think ghostblade is better
