Tips for season 6 placements!

I started season 5 late into the season, in June. I was not ready for ranked, I admit, I only won one placement game and ended up in Silver 5 but tanked to bronze 5 quite quickly. However I improved my game play quite efficiently, I have many perfect games now, with no deaths and my average KDA with velkoz is now 8/3/8 and i have a win rate of about 60% with him. To the point- I am a much better player than I was. I climbed to silver 4 during preseason but then fell back into bronze unfortunately, and IM hoping this season I can at least be a silver player. I would lke to know what I can do to increase my odds of placing out of bronze in my promotions.

  1. Should I duo with someone who I KNOW is an excellent payer? I have had conflicting suggestions on this. I was told not to duo queue with someone because it lowers my mmr. Conversely someone told me my only way to place out of bronze is to duo with this person.

  2. is there really a soft reset on MMR? I have heard that mmr does not get reset at all? At the same time I heard MMR does get a slight reset.

  3. How do they decide what rank you belong in? Do they judge based on the amount of wins, or by your damage and k/d/a in the game? Or is it a combination of both?

Any tips on helping me out. Id appreciate serious answers, aimed towards helping me. Please leave the toxic answers elsewhere, even though I know thats asking for a lot in this community :/

1 - No. This is because it messes up your team's MMR and will generally match at least one other person on your team against someone with much more experience than they have. So not only does your "carry" have to get fed, but he/she has to shut the other person down in the process. Not an easy job.

2 - Yes. It's a soft reset.

3 - I don't think anyone knows specifically except maybe some Riot employees. It's based on your score more as an individual. Rather than W/L or KDA. An ADC can have a massive KDA, but do minimal damage and therefore, get a lower grade and wonder why. Similarly, a different ADC can have a rather poor KDA while doing massive damage and get a higher grade than expected. That's far from the only things taken into account, but it does mostly go by personal performance of consistent execution in each game. Having a couple bad games won't have a huge effect, hence the 10-game provisionals, but if you are constantly getting Cs and Ds in the games, expect B5.

I would say if you're going to duo just to boost yourself up, don't do it. It'll place you higher than you need to be and higher than your skill level. That's definitely not a good thing because when you don't have your duo you'll just tank back to bronze.

This is wrong. The ONLY thing that matters for your placements is your MMR at the end of your 10 games. There is no system tracking damage or wards placed.

If you win your MMR goes up if you lose it goes down. It'll also goes up more by defeating opponents with higher MMR and the opposite holds true as well. Lose to players with low MMR and it'll tank.

Your first few placement games are the most important.

You can go 10-0 and get placed Plat 5 or go 10-0 and get into gold 5 it all depends on the MMR of your games

I've done it plenty of times on my smurfs.

Welll...heres the update

I ended the season as a bronze 3 did my placesments with a silver 5 and I got bronze 5. Even though I went 9-1 in my placements and had 5 perfect games with no deaths. seems wildly unfair to me, and Im probably going to stop playing. I did wonderfully in my placements and got as low as I could possibly get for a rank. I cant believe I got b5. Anyways thanks for all the tips everyone L/

All I have to say is going from Silver 1 to Bronze 2 is pretty demoralizing...
