Is Singed a gimmick?

I've been playing almost exclusively Singed in my ranked games for the past two weeks, and as of now, I've only lost a single ranked game with him. And, yet, I get told by my enemies, my teammates, even my friends I talk to about it "don't play Singed, he's just a gimmick, your luck will run out soon".

I don't see any reason to stop playing him, he's pretty fun and effective, as far as I can tell. I know he can be countered pretty hard by certain toplaners, but I've got backup picks in case of that. Am I missing something?

AP Rengar is a gimmick. Singed is just a champion who thrives in a particular set of circumstances.

He is gimmicky in that his playstyle is completely different from every other champion in the game and has bad match ups top overral, so he is not reliable at all.

There is nothing wrong with the champion itself, it is just that everyone would prefer if you picked something like Gangplank, Volibear or Graves top since they are generally stronger and easier for your team to play with.

Feel free to keep playing him, people are just like that. When Bard was released everyone would insult me for picking him despite the fact i had an 85% win-rate with him.

He's normally seen as a "troll champions", but I believe he's pretty strong. At the very least you can start proxy farming waves in their base and get your team to secure objectives while everyone chases you down. In low elo they dont understand that you just leave the singed to do what he wants, because if you chase him, you wont catch him.

I do the classic proxy wave Level 1, they almost always flash after me and they end up missing the entire first wave, and i casually walk it off. Point is, singed is seen as a troll champion because of how you play him, etc., but hes good.

I would get the same deal playing trailblaizer smite tp evelynn top back in 5.2 I'd get criticized frequently because I would proxy top lane like crazy and then invisable tp gank bot and steal jungle monsters and nobody could ever catch me. Maybe it wasn't meta but it I had alot of fun doing it and cleared towers in one wave pretty quickly item 3100 item 2139

Thanks to item 3285 item 3009 item 3116 you simply won't catch him. The old meme goes "Don't chase Singed". If he proxies, yea he might get your tower. Or you know, Nasus will just farm up a storm and kill everyone. Singed was all about high aggro top by making the jungle gank you or your laner knowing how to do the wave without minions. Singed can literally just go item 3027 item 3003 item 3009 item 3742 item 3116 item 3512 and just really screw with low elo players who don't understand they're gonna lose dragon for sending 2-3 top on a singed. But in upper elo, they know how to lane vs him and if he proxies they force a 5v4. Not to mention he has two items that stack and need time. Sometimes he only has time to build one and has to replace the other with like item 3800 . As you climb he does become a gimmick of sorts though. He got me into silver elo for normals but when i hit S2 in ranked I just couldn't do anything.
