She is not good, she is broken, too many tentacles, too much damage, too tanky while doing that damage. Not to mention they stay up permanently, and when he grabs you with and bashes your soul, you have to run or kill his tentacles while he or another sit there and hunt you! Here's what I found.

That situation you're talking about only happens when she gets 15 kills in laning phase. If she's not fed, she's worthless past laning and a laugh to see. Not to mention you don't need wards to catch her since you can watch her tentacles attack/spawn in the fog.

Yes, Illaoi does a lot of damage, if you do the ONE thing she wants you to do, which is have your entire team stand on top of her and not move.

The running gag with me and my friends is that you can counter Illaoi with basic boots on any champion as a starting item. Just don't stand around with all your gold shoved up your urethra and you'll be completely fine assuming a wild Morgana doesn't appear and nail you with the Leaver Buster Cannon they call "Dark Binding". Oh, and Illaoi is female by the way.
