True damage: Conqueror and Infinity Edge combined

Conqueror was riots answer to all the players saying that "You know what? I lost lane by a tank which i was not only not able to kill but it also managed to trade me without me doing no damage to him whatsoever".

And you know what? Conqueror was not such a bad rune nor was as unbalanced as it is right now.

Yes tanks were too strong and fighters for some time were too useless but I think riot overdone it.

Let me explain why with the easiest example possible: A Yasuo getting a item 3086 and then buildingitem 3031 . That is already 30% crit which 10% of it will be true damage. Clear so far? ok now lets think of passive called INTENT: Yasuo gains double the critical strike chance from all sources but his basic attacks deal 10% reduced damage when Critical strike icon critically striking.

So we had 30% crit? now it is 60% and that is not so bad, most of us has gotten used to dealing with it and stuff, get a item 3143 and item 3047 and most damage is gone. Now, remember that 10% true damage? Ok now lets think of what conqueror does PASSIVE: Entering combat generates one stack every second for the next 3 seconds. After reaching 4 stacks, your next basic attack against an enemy champion consumes all stacks to grant 6 − 35 (based on level) bonus Attack Damage for 3 seconds and converts 20% of your damage to champions to true damage for the duration. All stacks will wear off after 3 seconds out of combat.

So that leaves us with with 60% crit and 30% true damage, and that with aitem 3086 but that will create a item 3046 so 30% from phantom dancer itself, doubled to 60% from Yasuo passive and that 60% doubled by item 3031 passive so that is 100% crit chance with 2 items.

But i am not here to complain about yasuos kit, but to complain about conqeror with a champion which normaly builds second item infinity edge and uses that rune and using yasuo as an example. All that true damage might have counterplay at midlane with most midlaners having enough burst to counter it (Zoe Veigar Syndra Zed ) but what about at conqueror and such kit as yasuos at botlane or toplane?

Give that critical to a toplaner (Tryndamere and Yasuo ) and that forces the enemy laner to build not onlyitem 3047 but alsoitem 3143 early on making them not able to do enough damage (not talking about this Malphite ) but that partialy is ok.

Now, give that critical strike alongside with true damage and what is the counterbuild? Build armor you can not do anything vs true damage, build health and then take critical striked in the face.

Now a normal player would respond saying that "all that damage happens once one has farmed enough to get enough gold for critical and item 3031 and that until then you can poke and do stuff" Well yeah you can get other runes like electrocute and grasp to poke and do damage at early game and with electrocute both early and late. And yes that is true

But one problem remains. Conqueror and Infinity together or on their own (less so with infinity on its own(except when talking about this guy Tryndamere with first itemitem 3031 )) Are very strong and that is because riot has overdone it with true damage.

Well is there any OTHER champion that builds IE as second item other than yasuo? Plus its not 30% true damage with Zeal+IE not every hit is a crit. And any yasuo that does not finish PD 1st is just boosted. I am more annoyed by the fact suddenly ADC has so much true damage with IE when they had none to begin with. And tanks can't do shit

It's 10% converted from what Physical Damage they were already doing (after item 3143 and item 3047 have already reduced the damage, to my understanding), so aside from differences in total AD, the damage increase is no different than what you get if you bought item 3035 instead.

Unless you have damage reduction that doesn't explicitly mention crits or basic attacks (ex: Alistar)

Personally I don't like either conqueror or new infinity Edge. True damage used to be a very distinctive part of a champion's kit and not something you found around so much. It makes tank itemizing very difficult. Every time you play a tank you need to think about 3fking minutes to decide which item is the most efficient to buy and many times you still get it wrong.

You are right.

True damage was introduced because Riot had done a mistake and overpowered tanks for some time so Instead of reducing their tankyness they created new IE which i dont like either but thats what it is now (unfortunately).

And not to forget about someone who was once viable (talking about Gangplank of course) who got nerfed to the ground with new IE and the nerf of Kleptomancy (a rune which also got nerfed because it was abused both by Gangplank and Ezreal(more ezreal I think)) so yeah that is IE in 2k18.

TBH GP with grasp is way more easy and effective. You get the gold from using Q more on minnions and you can sustain way better and survive ganks. Also storm razor is a beast item on him you basically get more MS and guaranteed crit on all barrels.

Since when was the point of gangplank spamming q in lane while healing and getting back hp?

I always thought gp was supposed to be the champion you would play if you wanted to outplay your enemies by placing down barrels and hitting them accordingly and in time while doing combos few would expect like the ghost barrel and the triple impossible to dodge barrel combo.

But unfortunately it seems that gangplank is going to be in the "who remembers those champions list" already including Skarner Cassiopeia Corki Hecarim Heimerdinger Renekton Singed and Zilean.

imagine if grasp didn't do % max health damage and was only utility

At toplane 2 things will determine who wins the matchup. Conqueror and Grasp. Example, I play Garen A LOT, and i usually run grasp. Now if grasp did not do max health damage I would have no chance to win vs tanks that counter me (Maokai Malphite Darius GnarOrnnYorick) who also will get grasp (except gnar and nowadays darius who the one gets press the attack or some other rune and darius who will get conqueror and have 0 counterplay) but still, grasp gives me a 1v1 potential which if I use properly it can get me chances to survive till late game without going 1/4. So I think that grasp is a ok rune without it having any problems since it can be countered.

Unlike conqueror of course.

Surprising lack of Vayne's capitalizing on this rune.

If you use Conqueror on Vayne you deserve to be reported for trolling.

It's legit the WORST precision keystone you can take on Vayne.

excactly, vayne right now has way more fitting runes than conqueror that is why I did not mention her.

So that leaves us with with 60% crit and** 30% true damage**, and that with aitem 3086 but that will create a item 3046 so 30% from phantom dancer itself, doubled to 60% from Yasuo passive and that 60% doubled by item 3031 passive so that is 100% crit chance with 2 items.

It's not 30% at all.

Multiplicative scaling not additive.

It's actually 22%.

My point and this threads point is the fact that true damage is a problem right now in league because of its power to make many champions more unbalanced than they already were.

But still I am sorry I did not do more research on the matter!

you forgot that camille does straight up 1k+ true damage
