Does anyone know?

I don't quite understand why, at least in ranked queue, it is possible not to ban. For me, this feature is a huge pet peeve because it gives players an excuse not to learn the benefits of bans and counter picks. It also gives me a negative preconception of my allies before the game even begins because to me that seems "lazy." It is difficult for me to phrase this in a way that doesn't make me come off as salty, but I really try to be a positive player in the game and when people refuse to ban, that already starts me off in a sour mood. Is there anyone who can explain to me why this is a thing in a respectful way? I'm afraid I don't like posting discussions because I have had a lot of unhelpful and rude responses when I have genuine questions.

I don't know why riot even put that option in the first place. it's counterproductive. even worst the players who choose not to ban just gives the enemy a possible freebie to choose a champ that would be a problem to deal with. maybe they are just lazy, maybe they don't care. regardless, it does piss me off as well. the whole point in banning is to help your team to not deal with particularly annoying champs. granted there are tons that these 10 bans cant cover but it would at least reduce the number of difficult champions in a match.

Some people don't have anything in particular they want to ban (the stuff they did want to ban was already banned and/or they want to play against the conventional "OP" bans [perhaps their pick counters them, or they know how to play around them or whatever]), and they don't want to risk banning a teammates pick (not everyone hovers), or a teammates back-up pick (almost no non-premade teams communicate this much before ban phase is even over).

I don't usually care that much if people don't ban something conventionally seen as 'strong', but it's super tilting if I get banned out by my own team, even unintentionally.

I think it's for the health of Queue times mostly. It happened pretty often back in the day where someone stops paying attention waiting for their turn to ban, so the lobby gets the boot.

Now if someone gets caught with their pants down cuz they went bio, or are texting, or watching their other screen, they have a second shot to come back before selecting their champ.
