You don't want to have a set playstyle as support.
There are times when you need to be the passive utility support, and times you need can be more aggressive and harass like crazy. However most people do not know how to play aggressively as support.
Aggressive supports tend to have no chill, and that ends the lane in one of two ways. They pull off a cheesy kill on the support or ADC early, and continue to dominate the lane, but yikes they have no farm. ADC has all the farm while the aggressive support has all the kills. Well you're both going to have a hard time scaling. I haven't seen an AP Brand bot in a while who hasn't done this.
The other way it turns out is you'll be going up against an experienced support main. They know what you're like when you take ignite as support, and they're going to exploit your risky behavior using their ADC, that's stronger than you. This usually ends in you dying, your ADC dying and you having to sit under the turret, or you both die.
Aggressive supports are seeing some popularity in the meta right now because games snowball so far out of control bot lane now, and this spills over into the other lanes. You should learn about bot lane matchups, and when you know, then you can figure out if you can play aggressively in lane. Test the waters a bit. If they're playing safe, then you can probably carve out more room for your team in the lane. If they're not, then you shouldn't be getting caught out.
Also if you're new to supports, and you feel you must be aggressive, at least pick a tank.

The AP supports are so squishy and require so much more precision and care to be played aggressively. It really takes practice for them.
