What's the point of Kindred's ultimate?
Why is this in her kit? it doesn't make any sense to me. If anything, I think her ultimate should be changed, because
does it better.

To save your team from getting blown up by aoe
But doesn't it save the other team as well? All they have to do is step inside.
To make her a toxic design that cant be balanced and have her mains cry about her on boards/reddit and in game pretty much. She could be so much better if they jsut removed that obNOXUS ultimate and give her something else. Her winrate would surely RYZE too.
Redemption doesn't give invincibility, and it can turn a lost teamfight into a winning one if used correctly, but if used wrong can turn a winning teamfight into a losing one.
so when you are low health and somewhen else tries to kill you you can survive in the circle and get them to low health and finish them before they finish you
It basically turns a fight into a luck fest of who gets the last hit after the god mode turns off.
It's there to provide Utility in a kit that would otherwise just be damage. It makes them easier to balance, whilst also bringing out more skill expression for the player.
Thematics-wise or gameplay-wise?
Thematically it's meant to signify Kindred's nature as a harvester of the dead. Her ultimate indicates that it's "not their time".
Gameplay-wise it's a relic of a sad age (aka last year, mostly) in which Riot thought giving dps champs utility ultimates would give them better ways to control their power, when it really just gives certain champs a way to be cancerous no matter how nerfed they get and makes their basic skills obnoxiously strong because they don't need their ultimate to do what they need to do.
See Taliyah and Ryze for more examples of this.
Interesting thought on utility based marksmen, add Kalista to your list as well and how they nerfed what truly made her unique (mechanics with a partner) over her innate martial poise.
In Kalista's case, Martial Poise was a dreadful mistake. It's no surprise that CT finally got shifted out of new champ design after that.
