Zed 'bug' Q > W? It matches his W E, why not leave it in?

Riot Games, league of legends: Undo Zed's 'bug-fix' that stopped his Q > W.

I made a petition to have the Q > W 'bug-fix' (5.17 patch Zed bug fix) undone, allowing the trick to stay around.

Ok. So I will start off by saying I am not a good player, I am ranked almost the lowest possible. That being said, I still enjoy the game. So I heard about the zed Q then W change, and I was like" wow, that actually sounds really cool to try and I bet it looks awesome". So I tried Zed out again (tried him a long time ago and didn't like him). So I played it my first game, and I played him literally the last 27/30 games (a full match history page plus some). I didn't play him 3 times. 1 of which he was already taken, and the other 2 he was banned out. (I play a lot of normal TB/blind so I got him a lot). Anyways, I actually tried him Top, Mid, and Jungle and reaaaaaaally liked him. (27/30 games, and I wanted him those 3 I missed).

PRO: It was a very fun mechanic. Once you got it down, it looked very snazzy and stylish, and was effective. It interacted very similar to his W and E combo. This is why I initially thought it was meant to be changed. Lets face it. In lane, (without it) When you throw your W out, your gonna Q after this. It is 100% telegraphed, where even us bronze of bronze knew what was about to happen. Very easy to miss. But with it, you could pull off some nice Skillshot dodges (standing to 1 side of river, Q, W to other side of river) and you could actually change it up. Now, wer are back to the same 1 play (W, Q/E, E/Q). I play him now after it, and it actually feels like a special part of him is missing now. I think it should return exactly like was. CON: So, lets start with how it changes (I am going to try and be neutral, but I do really want it back). I noticed it sometimes made it very easy to land a double Q in lane, if someone was walking directly at me (We do this very often in bronze. We also like to juke into skillshots. Its like trying to catch a ball of death). As long as I was in range of my Q hitting, it was almost a guaranteed double hit. But, if you tried to use it in lane when they didn't play like 'simon just told them to stand still', it was quite easy to miss. Because if they moved at all, neither would hit.

Solution: I don't know why it was fixed, be it was deemed 'op' or if they just fixed it because it accidentally happened.

  1. In the event Riot thought it was 'op', then lets compromise. Put a .25 second delay on it being thrown from his shadow. That way it still has its very targeted uses, but it can also be dodged, because you know whats coming.
  2. In the event Riot disabled it simply because it was an accident, then lets vote on it. Lets take a poll. If the majority dislikes it, then lets take it out. But if people actually say hey, that is pretty badass and I want it back! Then give the people what they want.

If you read it, please take a few seconds of your time to at least vote below. If you are for it and want it to really happen, going and voting on the petition as well would make it very likely to get implemented. I will be sending the petition to Riot Games (tm), if it gets 100+ signatures!

The utility the combo gave was really interesting. My friend showed me it and I started playing Zed again just because of this. I thought it was fun but not game breaking.

Seems like extremely dangerous versatility to me. When a champion can use the same combo in so many ways, it becomes frustratingly difficult to be able to predict anything out of them. Without the bug, you know where the second Q is coming from if you're fast enough. With the bug, that bit of counterplay is taken away if Zed can cast shadow quickly enough.

Counterplay > Flashy Plays

Flashy plays don't make for a balanced game, just a fun one for the person pulling them off. Anyone who had to deal with the oppression that was once Lee Sin knows that.

because it's not useful at all.

just do a side w and a q and it's 10x more effective without relying on luck lmao.

Keep it removed because its ZED. If Zed gets a Q,W then Leblanc his counterpart should be able to cast Q,E during W mid air.

It was certainly cool to see and do, but it's not fun to play against. :/

I think the poll (currently 11 people want it implemented, 4 want it to stay removed, and 4 want to PBE it). says how a small number of people feel. I would like to broaden this pole, to 100 people. To 1000 people. Can we reach 10,000 people? Comment so it stays current. (I dream big. I dream of the day that 10k people see my post. Maybe 100k people. Maybe people see me in a game and say 'oh I saw that guy post about something'). Sorry I got off-track. Those are dreams. Hopes. Wishes. Lets be realistic here. I won't be anything more than I am. A random bronze player who's voice means very little. ANYWAYS.

I think balance is **VERY** important (even for my favorite champions, because I to have to face off against them to). I think making both party's happy (low elo and high elo. Zed players and Zed haters) is RIOTS goal. I know they do the best they can, but they need to know how we the plays feel on this.

I dream of a time when Zed is no longer a 1 trick pony (W followed be either Q/E or E/Q). I want him to be a high risk, high reward champion. I want Zed to test the players decision making, and critical thinking (combos) under pressure. Lets face it, his W shadow is short duration. It needs to be this way. You can use skills 2 times with 1 shadow, with enough CD.

Lets compromise people. Lets keep the Q > W combo, so you actually have to watch the order of Zed's skills. No longer can you be like 'well, there is the W, I just move out of range of E, and therefore the 2nd Q cannot land. Now just sit back for a few seconds and wait for it to go away. Aaaaand now zed is 99% useless (1% of AA's, which requires you to walk or ulti to them. I cannot argue this many [What If's]. I am sorry. I am not a balancer).

** MY IDEAS (please give me constructive criticism on these idea(s). ~~Argue it~~ Discuss it. Know the difference.**
  1. Lets make it have a delay. That's right. Lets make it preferable sometimes, and make it less favorable at other times.

Lets make the shadow throw the Q .25 after landing. (Riot may change that number, I think up to maybe .5s would be understandable). Now it is a niche combo. Now You have to factor in several things EX. Are they good at juking? This combo will not be so good. Do they move left and right often? This combo will not be so good. Do they stand still and let you aim your Q? This combo will teach players the importance of staying alert.

I think that the people that said it was OP in certain situations forget that everything has favorable times to use the skill. When someone isn't moving alot, this needs to be favorable. (should we nerf linear skillshots because they are OP when used in narrow jungle patterns [Azir kit, Syndra stun, Braum ulti, Viktor kit, etc etc)? No. They were made this way, to have favorable fighting areas.

Zed needs to be similar. His combos need to be niche combo picks that test your ability to react correctly, and punish you for reacting incorrently (using Q and W and everything misses because they were paying attention to you, or because you used the wrong combo for the situation).

Actually, that's just a fun part of his kit because even a pro Zed players are able to make use of it once in 100 games because it's really, really hard to hit your enemy that way.

I know what I am talking about because I am watching a lot of Zed mains on twitch and youtube including Apdo, Azoh, Bjerg, etc and when they do that, they do it to look cool and make fun, not to actually make plays.

It was definitely not game braking and it should remain the same because it was cool and your shadow was more like your puppy trying to repeat the same thing you did few moments ago :) :3

From someone who plays Zed and never knew about the combo to begin with. (literally I never used it on purpose or saw anyone else use it). It is fine to keep it the way it is now. It helps keep Zed's skill cap a little higher and leaves a bigger window for counter play.

Thanks for the comments and votes everyone! I really enjoy reading all of your responses and really appreciate you taking the time to poll!

I hope to get even more :)

I have never had a Rioter comment on anything I posted, how do you make that happen? Is it just random luck, or do they check a forum out after it gets popular (say 500~ likes/votes/etc)? Post answers here, Thanks guys!

So what I am seeing is about 20/28 people find it interesting and would like it to see gameplay, while 8/28 don't like it. I would love to get some more ideas. I think about 1,000 + people for it would be a good goal! Lets keep this going please : )
