Nasus buffs were too much

Zombie Slayer··29 votes·5,046 views

I understand you wanted Nasus to be better but you have to look over him and nerf some parts of his kit if you want him to have the 50% CD on his Q with R. For instance lower his slow or make it a skill shot not sure how you'd do that but he is suppose to have a weakness in being kited I would understand a slow would be needed to give him some form of a way to get close to his target but his current slow is way to much for Nasus to have. His Passive is not healthy I understand he needs sustain but maybe make it so you have to hit minions with your Q or hit champions with Q like Yorick this not only enforces stacking but its also healthy instead of just auto attacking minions. His resistances late game are way to powerful with his passive possibly lowering the ability would make him easier to play against late game. And lastly his Q is pretty unhealthy to the game stacking in general is unhealthy sure its unique and what not but its just not healthy maybe make it take longer to stack or just remove the stacking and just give him increased damage on his Q.

This is just my opinion obviously there are gonna be some Nasus mains or just people to flame me for thinking Nasus is in a bad state as a champion but hes just way to unhealthy to the game.

is that why he's at a flat 50% and hasn't budged from it since the patch lol

leave Nasus alone he finally gets his time in the sun and you goons are trying to euthanize him

Jesuszilla9 votes

Just because his winrate is stable doesn't mean his playstyle is healthy.

Big Lincoln6 votes

there's nothing wrong with his playstyle

LankPants9 votes

He's actually the most garbage champ to play against ever. I actually hate playing VS Nasus so much that since his buff he has became my go-to ban whenever I play top. I hate playing against him and knowing that no matter what I do he'll still reach a point where he's better than me eventually and there's not really much I can do to stop it outside of closing out the game, which is oftentimes more reliant on my team than me.

His infinite scaling and very low skill requirement to make him a very annoying and often oppressive champion to play against whenever he's strong.

Big Lincoln7 votes

basically any hypercarry but i don't see anyone complaining about any of the marksmen with the same powercurve who actually dominate the meta when they're good

LankPants4 votes

I'd lobby the exact same complaint against Twitch right now and I'm actually very happy that Vayne's out of the meta. I feel like Jinx and Kog'maw are less bad that Vayne/Twitch/Nasus because unlike them they lack any powerful defensive tools.

Nasus does have one thing none of these ADCs do however, he's extremely tanky. At least with Vayne I can stunlock her and she'll die quickly, Nasus is a raid boss who takes an entire team to down and even then he takes a significant investment to kill.

I'm not saying he's overpowered, underpowered or balanced. I don't even give a fuck about his balance state. I'm also not saying he should be buffed or nerfed, what I'm saying is that I despise playing against his and unless he is nerfed or another champ is buffed up to pure cancer levels I will most likely continue to ban him every time I am top lane.

LOSINGISMYPRIDE1 votes

Pantheon yeah waste your bann on him .

LankPants2 votes

At least with Panth I can just play a tank and outscale. Panth's pickrate is also lower than Nasus. I don't want to play against either but I'd actually prefer Panth.

Slows are my all time least favorite thing in this game, and nasus has a really strong one that get stronger over the course of a few seconds. Plus he does a lot of damage if he gets near you.

Lots of damage near you? Like wow, it's weird how juggernauts are pretty good at that huh.

GayFluffyUnicorn1 votes

Because they aren't walking statsticks coming up to you and slap the shit out of you with no counterplay. The only reason why nasus is allowed to stay as he is is because he is absolutely garbage and useless in teamfights unless he has enough stats to completely ignore every CC and damage and just walks over your team. But just by the enemy picking nasus your team is basically forced to a 4v4 or even worse if you do't want to lose your base.

Ralanr2 votes

Eh, Marksmen tend to die faster if you can burst them. Killing Nasus is a chore.

Big Lincoln4 votes

Marksmen tend to have teammates dedicated to them. Nasus is on his own in soloQ

Ralanr2 votes

Though apparently it's wasteful to give Nasus that level of dedication.

Big Lincoln3 votes

because he still won't be as good to build around as a marksman unless you go all-in on making a juggernaut comp

but with the Q cooldown in R I bet ardent buffing him would yield very nice results

So low skill floor is having to play better than 95% of the roster b/c he has the weakest early game of any champion in league? Low skill also involves learning how to manipulate the wave, last hit and farm without dying? Low skill also means that he has some of the hardest Macro decisions to make each game to ensure his team doesn't lose objectives or fights?

But it is low skill to have a champion that doesn't require AA'ing or point and click burst from range, right? You're biased and your statements are a matter of opinion, not fact. His kit might be easy to use but he is by no means easy to play and succeed with.

Jesuszilla4 votes

Yes, there is a very toxic and negative aspect to "If I farm I can just win out the game." as a playstyle, and hence why Nasus has seen very few changes and buffs over time. You don't want champions that require lots of focus to stop from dominating the game to be too powerful. The difference between an adc and a champion like Nasus is that Nasus is incredibly hard to kill, and the only form of counterplay to his kit is kite him out, which works fine if you're ahead but not if you are behind.

ADC's have lots of counterplay, including zone control, cc, or just kill them. It's easy to say kill an adc, because they lack the kind of damage mitigation tools that are available to other champions if they want to have any kind of impact on the game. It's less viable to try and kill a Nasus, considering his ult.

Counterplay = don't get near them... Wtf are you talking about? ADCs have a whole class of slaves that protect them. Killing any ADC with a decent Janna, Lulu, Taric etc is hard task.

Jesuszilla2 votes

I mean, you don't get to claim other champions exist as a reason that built in counters don't work. There's always other champions, that doesn't mean that their weakness isn't there, it's just being shored up by team comp which is what is supposed to happen. They are still vulnerable innately to death, something that Nasus is not.

SpookyNeedle2 votes

Fiora had a 50% winrate when she was nearly permabanned. Even being a Fiora main myself, she isn't fun to lane vs. but I hate laning vs nasus more because he's a ticking timb bomb you always have to worry about. Also Wither is so strong. Maybe I'll start playing Yi

Naching10 votes

Hahaha the cries start as always than some champ is buffed and fixed to be viable or meta.

Some people cant deal with champs that always were more weaks than strong and someday rebirth haha

Nasus finally can fight better even still with the same problems as before but at least he has a strong face now like most the champs... Where is the problem?

LankPants2 votes

I mean, people are whining and bitching about Akali, a 49.5% winrate champ with both a lower banrate and playrate than Nasus, so why the fuck not?

LyingOnLine2 votes

Ah ah ah, naughty little lies you're telling here. People were complaining about buffs to Akali when she was already a perfectly viable champion.

Jesuszilla2 votes

Winrate isn't the only reason champions get nerfed. Medium winrate does not mean healthy playstyle.

BALDG1VEN BOOMER2 votes

So if a medium win rate is busted what's a 53% win rate?

Jesuszilla1 votes

Again, winrate is NOT the only aspect of a champion. The playstyle and in-game aspects of a champion can contribute to unhealthy and unfun gameplay. Who cares if Nasus only wins half his games if EVERY Nasus game is a headache?

BALDG1VEN BOOMER2 votes

Because when you're aggregating data from the top 5% of the player base who actually know to play around a champions weakness and seeing that Nasus is at a 50/50 means that his window for counter play is sufficient.

Jesuszilla1 votes

No, that's actually not what that means. You don't design a game around only the top 5% of the playerbase, because in doing so you alienate the other 95% of the playerbase. And again, it's not about how often he wins, it's about his playstyle being UNHEALTHY. UNHEALTHY =/= OVERPOWERED.

It's like you have no reading comprehension at all here.

BALDG1VEN BOOMER3 votes

There's a reason the game is balanced around Plat+

GayFluffyUnicorn2 votes

i really wish we had some check up for boards so that only people with a minimum of let's say 90 IQ points are allowed to talk here. The amount of "BUT TEH WINRATE HURR DURR!" on these boards reached cancerous levels without any actual arguments what so ever. Statistics CAN back up someones argumentation but just throwing around some numbers as facts for your argumentation does not work.

BALDG1VEN BOOMER2 votes

Well let's see there's a couple of reason why his win rate reflects his performance

  • Takes too long to scale, especially with most games ending 30 mins
  • Vulnerable to early ganks with no mobility
  • Easily kited
  • You can wait out his ult if he used his W incorrectly
  • Can't 5v5 effectively and never will
  • His sustain is garbage an can be easily negated with an executioners, thus having no sustain
  • Gets denied too hard by any early game bully
  • His passive laning makes scaling laners an option
  • Fiora still exists

Maybe the boards will allow people to post with 90 IQ and above because win rate is a reflection of what a champions performance can do, but I guess some people IQ is simply too low to understand.

Jesuszilla1 votes

So a few counterpoints:

  • When games start taking longer his winrate rises quite a bit. I don't appreciate a champion whose winrate and performance is entirely tied to game length rather than overall performance.

  • Several other champions are low mobility and vulnerable to ganks, it is a built in delay to him, but that still makes his gameplay unhealthy.

  • Um, sort of but not always. Nasus strength comes from being able to take towers at alarming rates and requiring focus to deal with him. Wither is incredibly powerful, so a single champion isn't going to be able to kite him effectively unless they are built entirely for kiting or they are much stronger than him at that point in the game.

  • So, if someone misplays heavily you can counter them? That's innately true of any champion, it's not unique to Nasus nor does it address his unhealthy infinite scaling playstyle.

  • I disagree heavily on the viability of a 5v5 Nasus, because a lock down comp with Sejuani can definitely allow Nasus the power to dominate in fights. Actually just Sejuani is really powerful with a Nasus (or any melee champion for that matter). It is the tank meta for junglers atm anyway.

  • His sustain isn't garbage if it requires an item to counter it, but there is certainly a built in counter to lifesteal based effects in the form of GW that I wish more people used. In all the games I have played that the enemy is using a heavy healing comp, Soraka, Vlad, etc I'm usually the one buying it as the jungler later in the game because the lanes just ignored it and got wrecked. This is one of the points I agree with.

  • Again, being denied is just a delay to his unhealthy style of gameplay and doesn't address the issues here. It's not that Nasus is too powerful, it's that he's just bad design. Feast or Famine style champions are not very intuitive to begin with and for a game that prides itself on options having something be very arbitrary like Nasus is not good. It comes down to are the other lanes winning, and is Nasus farming. Because the other aspects of the game just don't seem to apply in Nasus games.

Like, I get that you are trying to explain why he's not got a high winrate, but you aren't addressing the issues with his kit that players have. I personally hate Nasus, both playing as him and playing against him. It's not a fun feeling, there's not a lot of choices, there's just "Do this one thing, end the game, or you lose to his q." The previous thing about Nasus was that he was entirely split push so you could kind of try ignoring him and rushing down teamfights and pressuring harder than he was, but with his ultimate changes he can become a teamfight monster, bursting anyone in range down. And with the amount of lockdown in the game now it's very easy for a couple q hits to completely swing a fight. Nasus is the kind of champion you DON'T want having a decent or viable winrate, a relic of the past.

BALDG1VEN BOOMER1 votes

Nasus is meant to be feast or famine because if he's ahead he'll stay ahead and if he falls behind then he'll have a hard time coming back because he revolves around getting farm.

The reason I'm not "addressing" his issues is because he's fine in his current kit and already has an abundant amount of counter play.

Jesuszilla1 votes

I mean, that's your opinion that a feast and famine playstyle is fine for the game. It's my opinion and apparently several others that it's not. Go figure.

BALDG1VEN BOOMER2 votes

So you want Nasus to be strong at all stages of the game... lol. His feast of famine style is what keeps him at bay in the early game.

Jesuszilla1 votes

I want him to be reworked instead of buffed up. Though reworks are inherently hit or miss usually themselves. I'd rather the unhealthy playstyle that he has which keeps him in this spot were changed rather than them just trying to poke buffs at a champion that can easily become problematic as a design strategy.

BALDG1VEN BOOMER2 votes

His design isn't problematic which I've been explaining to you but I'm just going to stop here cause I'm clearly beating a dead horse especially after this comment.

{quoted}

Jesuszilla1 votes

Having anything that has an infinite scaling potential to a point that his weaknesses are overshadowed by his growth IS problematic. It means that you can't make his design anything but feast and famine.

it's like the issue with Cho'gath and the reason people were so worried about how high his feast damage was getting. The SAME argument you are using now was used then to justify Cho'gath's place, that he was easily kited and wasn't doing much at higher tiers of play.

Then they gave his e scaling %hp damage and a slow and he went from kited out to dominating play overnight. So we are done talking, because you are one-dimnesional and close-minded. You can keep hammering on about your incorrect logic and false claims, they will fall on deaf ears.

BALDG1VEN BOOMER3 votes

???

Nasus has many weak points early.

And Cho'Gath was over buffed while Nasus wasn't .

Möral Support4 votes

I agree he might be a little too strong when it comes to level 6/11 but once late games hit he is still old Nasus because of items that slow him to a kite-able standard.

Escheton4 votes

Yes, he is powerful. EVERYONE is powerful these days except the few that got left behind. He still has plenty of counterplay and isn't overbearing unless fed (like most champs are) and falls off hard if he doesn't capitalize on his window of power. Which is why he's on 50-ish probably.

He's good, but so is everyone else. Which leaves him simply "actually viable". Sorry you need to learn how to play against a "new" champion you may have little experience with. Adapt.

JUST KITE HIM BRO

crzymdscntst2 votes

Definitely hits the mark on "needs power shift"

Caitlyn is an example of another one, where the traps were becoming problematic, even if the win ratio was fine or better. It should have been to take that power from the traps and shift it around. Make the net better or something. (I can't quite say where to put it other than her net where it's lacking.)

His ultimate overall is a mix of underwhelming and overloaded as-is I think. This just shifts him to be more powerful during those frames, which is kinda the point, but it also doesn't compensate for the overall power upgrade.

I agree with most of what u said, just not this "And lastly his Q is pretty unhealthy to the game stacking in general is unhealthy sure its unique and what not but its just not healthy maybe make it take longer to stack or just remove the stacking and just give him increased damage on his Q." Without stacking nasus has no niche.

Sexy Jack Rabbit2 votes

I have no issues with the buffs. I don't mind Nasus when he's strong.

But they really emphasized how Cancer his slow is.

SuperCommander2 votes

I would've liked some more defense on his ulti instead of the damage approach as I think Nasus is a good frontliner. His damage is quite decent anyway especially with the E buff. Can't say I like the double Q on ulti at all because it makes Nasus very reliant on his ulti.

onlytrung1 votes

Nasus needs a rework rather than tuning. At this rate, Riot is buffing everyway to make him relevant, but hasn't presented a clear weakness to play against him. He has health, armor/mr to counter burst, lifesteal to counter poking, attack slow to counter sustain damage, armor shed to counter thornmall... so what is effective agaisnt him? And he is not so mana thristy like the old poppy. There should be more decision making in his playstyle. Think veigar passive, he can increase his scaling by hitting spell to champion, provide a more active way rather than just farming minion. Or annie q, miss timing Q and you see your mana goes fast and longer cd to farm.

Best Ekko NA1 votes

Are you high? Nasus still gets dumpstered currently even with these changes. If anything, good old Nasus needs another buff because's he's far too kite-able and easy to stay away from.

Riot have brain? why you guys buff nasus like this please see the gameplay we can't even win 3 vs 1 against nasus
