Ekko is the best-designed champ in recent memory

While there are certainly arguments to be made about the balance of his bases and scaling, I can't help but give Riot props for an incredibly fun champion design. Ekko is more fun to play than any other champion in recent memory, and I don't even like Assassins all that much to begin with.

Riot said their intent with Ekko was to create a champion that made players feel "smart" when they pulled off plays. Well, mission accomplished! Timing all of your abilities to converge on your opponent is both difficult to plan and execute, and extremely satisfying to succeed at.

Compared to other AP Assassins like Katarina, Ekko is decidedly more intensive in the mechanics and strategy department. He's powerful, sometimes frustratingly so, but never once do I feel like my death to an enemy Ekko was the result of the champion being overpowered and easily abused. Katarina can blow up an entire team in seconds, and takes only a fraction of the "smarts" required to achieve the same result with Ekko.

I can see how he may need some toning down in the damage department, but all in all, I think Ekko is the best-designed champion in the last year or so. He's unique, he's strong, he's difficult to use well, and most importantly, he's incredibly fun to play. Well done, Riot!

Having a skill with 3 second delay that isn't mandatory to do anything doesn't make a champion "smart". Sorry for ruining your childhood.

Chances are high that my childhood was already ruined several years before you soiled your first diaper, but I digress...

You don't need to use W to set up your burst, but it sure as hell helps. It's also great for diving/pushing turrets. I'd say the "smart" angle is most apparent with his ult, though. Trying to plan 4 seconds ahead so that your afterimage is in the right spot at the right time is not easy to do, and when you pull it off, it's incredibly gratifying.

I don't disagree that Ekko may be overtuned at present, but by no means is he a faceroll champ like Kat.

Fun to play means freelo in League.

wait until you play vs a good one and we will see how amazing he is in design.

Truthfully Ekko was their biggest mistake. There is no fixing him. If his scaling is good he will be an unkillable assassin the will 1 shot at least one person and get out for free or kill another one or 2 with his ult. If his bases are good he becomes an unkillable tank that kills you since his kit has too much slows and %health passive.

The only reason people don't really complain about him is there is more broken stuff out atm, but he is easily the worst champ ever made balance wise. Not even Yasuo is that stupid broken. Their best champ ever made that is somewhat recent is Vel Koz, he wasn't weak and wasn't broken OP. He is still known as Riots most recent champ that was made nicely and hasn't really needed any changes since. Everything else they make is either stupid broken which they no doubt do to get high sales, or stupid weak which goes ignored after a day or 2.

How long is your "recent" memory, one week? And please, we're talking out of the Kalista, Rek'Sai, Gnar, Bard pack. You're setting the bar incredibly low.

To this day he is the best designed champ imo...

Playing Against Ekko: Everything he has is dodgable: -His Q can be seen coming from a mile away and if for some reason you get hit it does most of its damage on return at which point its even more predictable. -His W.. well its a stun that takes 4 sec to activate its AOE 1 you see when he casts it and 2. he has to be within the AOE -His E is a gap closer that doesnt do that much damage when he blinks to you(unless he has 2 stacks from his passive on you, in that case.. well, quite simply.. it hurts.. alot) -His R.. well this hurts.. I mean really hurts, but its easy to avoid, and thats all you have to do. avoid walking next the the "Past Ekko/Ekko clone" with low hp.. its that easy

Playing as Ekko: He's the most fun and satisfying champ in the game: -Playing with ekko is all about thinking ahead, people dont realize that when an ekko player burst you down in 2.5sec... it because he predicted that you and him will be in that position at that time 4 seconds ago which was also when he used the ability that just stun you and give him a shield.

Since his release the only champ that has come close is Jhin
