Solo queue isn't coming back.
Just read a post on reddit linked here;
Player: "Dynamic queue utterly killed the competitive aspect of this game for me, not because i'm a pro - but because I wanted to prove that I can show how good I am, whether that's bronze or challenger. Taking away the solo aspect of the game just kills the motivation for me because I feel like I have no accurate measure of how good I actually am or a feeling of total disadvantage if I play alone."
Rioter: "Yes, we moved the goalposts on what your rank means and it definitely doesn't measure your individual contribution as much as last season. That sucks for primarily solo players, and we want to have a way to measure your individual skill. We thought that could be a dedicated solo queue, but with more data we don't think it would be a good experience for either queue. So we want a different system to measure this that doesn't involve splitting the pool of players to match make with.
Wish I had more details to share, but there's nothing we are ready to talk publicly about and I'm not directly involved so I wouldn't be the right person to speak about it. :("
Unless their new idea is something that doesn't involve playing with premades, I'm done with ranked. Haven't played it in weeks and won't be returning. The climb back to plat earlier this season wasn't possible without partying up, which I don't do. I was experiencing too many stomps, pre-mades, smurfs, and just overall mismatches when going in solo. The ranked environment is no longer suited for solo players, and thus, I'm good on that.
