Fun fact. You don't own any IP, and you don't own any runes.

#Saying this right now, if your not going to fucking bother reading this, and all your going to do is disagree, just leave. You can disagree by propsing ideas, thoughts, propositions, but don't fucking say "No, just no" if your going to, do us all a favor and just leave this thread.

Guys ever read this or are you just one of the people who skips past it, I don't blame you. I'v done it before. These things are hellllla long. They all basically say the same thing too.

BUT, you did agree to it.

It basically states, when regarding Ip & Rp, you don't own it. It's lent to you for the duration that you play the game. You don't OWN it, it's like going to a casino and betting chips, you don't own the chips, the chips are just something that can be exchanged. Before somebody talks about how a casino does owe you. it's a comparison. Not a exact metaphor.

Then regarding property, this means Skins, Champions, RUNES, boosts, anything? YOU DON'T OWN IT. "You have no ownership or other property interest in any of the Virtual Goods you unlock," & "what you “unlock” is not the virtual good itself, but rather, a qualified right to access it in the Game"

Ya'll getting my point yet?

While it may not be "morally correct" to "screw the old players" by not giving them a refund, riot isn't actually GIVING a refund. It's more of a, thank you for using our services gift. Really poorly phrased on Riot's part. Nobody except riot/Tencent/whatever owns runes, so there's nothing to refund. They aren't taking away the right, you have the right to something that no longer exists. Sure, you spent time trying to get it, so? You got what you wanted didn't you?

What your doing right now is playing monopoly, getting free in game currency from playing, then getting mad you don't get to keep your houses and hotels for the next time you play the game. You never owned it, you were just using it, borrowing it.

Sucks, but you still got something. It's not a refund despite what they phrased it as, think of it as a, thank you for playing type reward. Sure it may not be what you want, but let's not bite the hand of the one who feeds us.

League is a free game, if your spending anything on it, that's your choice. Don't blame Riot for that. You choose to play the game, you choose to dedicate your time and or money. The people who own the game have no obligation to you. They never did. They're a business, they always have been.

It's quite comparable to a charity or church really. You don't have to go to church, you don't have to donate, you don't have to do anything. If you go, your going for personal reasons. The church will thank you for donating, and you might enjoy going, but when the church is relocated, or shuts down? The church doesn't owe your donations back.

I get that your frustrated that you "lost your time" but I have to ask, did you spent time to get the runes, or did you spend time to play the game? If you didn't like playing, why did you bother farming for runes? Why didn't you quit? Your time was not "wasted" because your only getting part of the IP back, your looking at it incorrectly. You spent your time enjoying the game, runes were a bonus, something to do.

Ugh.

Alright, those people who just feel like they're entitled, go ahead and downvote me now.

What you say is true, but a Rioter replied to a comment that complained about how older players are being ripped off, and they stated they wanted to be fair to players with compensation, but it doesn't feel fair, you know? So I think people have the right to voice their opinions on this matter.

We understand that this is a free game, and yes, Riot doesn't need to give anything back to us, but if they want people to keep playing their game, player satisfaction is something they have to look at.

I guess I should quit buying skins if RIOT has the right to take them all away from me If they feel like doing so one day, thanks for the heads up

so your idea is they should lose customers by enforcing something they put in place so they can legally ban people

You forgot to consider the simple expectation of companies delivering the promises they'd declared. That and, whether or not the intent was communicated correctly in the first place.

Riot is a business, and there is nothing wrong to look at it through business lenses. But to say "you don't own it, it's free, so stand down and be grateful" or something like that is really not the way to go not is it actually business-like. What is to be looked at is whether Riot delivered the promises they claimed, and whether or not the promises came off clear enough.
