What's with league players and their ego?

Including me of course but what the hell? I've played many games but in terms of ego league stands out. Players always think they're the best and once you attack their ego then they'll go nuts start flaming u and even throw the game. Why is the ego so big in this community imo the ego problem is the one of the biggest reasons of toxicity

It is the biggest cause. I rarely ever see a toxic person that doesn't have a giant ego tagging along. I think it's because they think they're too good to fall into the same pitfalls their "trolling" teammate does, therefore their teammates should also be good enough to avoid the pitfalls. You could be facing someone that admits to being a smurf and has the record to back it up, and that teammate may still think they wouldn't have failed as horribly as you did.

Anonymity.

That's the sole entire reason for toxicity. It's a double edged sword in that you get complete transparency of ideas and philosophies, but there's zero consequence for wrong doing. Anonymity is a powerful thing, something I whole heatedly support, especially online, but it's Anonymity.

People didn't change or get worse. We were ALWAYS this way. We have these things called laws/rules that provide punishment for toxicity irl (crime) and temper this sort of behavior usually.

Anonymity. Everyone from Internet Trolls to ANTIFA use this to get away with all sorts of things people would be in jail for.

i am glad you also see this issue. players with high ranks tend to have high ego and will gloat about it until a low rank player pushes just the right buttons to make their rank, and ego, cripple and make it worse. and to make this even worse, Riot knows this but does not care about your ego as long as they make money.
