All these threads about the fill option (Support discussion)
The biggest problem is that support is the least desired role in the whole player base. The role could really use a rework but in the meantime how can we make support more desirable? If all roles are equally desirable then each one will have a 20% chance of being picked when you choose fill and thus the fill problem will be solved.
Personally, I think the issue is that supports are viewed as babysitters for the ADC, which while great for memes is not good for game health. Bard was a good attempt to create a support that roams and helps all lanes but this role is already taken by the jungler who does the support role quite well imo. Support needs a new identity, perhaps as a secondary carry to bottom lane marksmen.
Could changes to the experience system be the answer? I know Mordekaiser has that mechanic where he gains bonus experience when with an ally but could this be a whole game change? If experience wasn't split up among allies you could have duo lanes that keep up in levels with solo lanes.
Another issue is the gold disparity which support items help with but does not solve the problem. Could there be a support mastery that gives full gold from minions? This would limit the abuse cases as power would be allocated away from other masteries which would better suit a carry role.
On another note, how would you rework support?
