Stop banning both GP and Morde on Red Side

You don't have to.

So let's go into some pick/ban theory here as to why not. Let's assume that GP and Morde are the only "OP" champs this patch. Given this, you don't actually have to ban either one on red side. You simply allow the blue side team to pick one and trade it for the other. Essentially, the ban phase becomes a game of chicken- except it's one that you can't lose as the red side team. Here's how you do it:

Ban 1: Did blue side ban GP or Morde?

Yes- Ban the other. No- Ban anyone you like.

Ban 2: Did blue side ban GP or morde?

Yes- Ban the other. No- Ban anyone you like.

Ban 3: DId blue side ban GP or morde?

Yes- Ban the other. No- Ban anyone you like.

Huzzah, you have now freed up at minimum one more ban. If Blue side bans GP or Morde, you got 1 free ban by ordering your bans correctly. If they ban both, you got 2 free bans, and both were still banned. If they didn't ban either, that's fine too- you got 2 extra bans, and while they'll get their choice of morde and GP, you'll get the other (and have another pick for a champ like Elise). Fail to see why pro teams are continually making what I view to be a directly inferior strategical decision in ban phase after ban phase, unless they consider morde unbeatable, which I have a hard time believing.

i actually would want a team to bait the morde out and show a good counter-strategy, might happen in the Bo5s. Gp though is never worth the risk, he has no weaknesses to play around atm.

Sorry but your solution won't work.

You see, GP is overpowered in his farming ability so he has to be banned.

Morde is overpowered in his win-button ability so he has to be banned.

You cannot force the other team to make a Sophia's choice though, because of one crucial factor in this particular circumstance:

Mordekaiser is retardedly more powerful than imaginable, so it isn't a Sophia's choice to begin with. If you cannot get him, you ban him.

After you've banned him, Gangplank is a liability and you're not gonna get him, so you have to ban him.

You cannot force a Sophie's choice when the stratification between the choices is too much to bear; It wouldn't be making Sophia choose between letting her son or daughter die. It's more like Sophia choosing between letting herself and her husband and her son and her family dog die, or the fetus she's pregnant with die. That wager is too obvious, even with ethical difficulties. At least for a video game as logical as this.

you flat out cannot leave both open because you cannot leave mordekaiser open. mordekaiser is significantly more OP than gangplank. and that is saying something. Gangplank is strong as hell and severely overtuned. but mordekaiser has shown even at the highest level of play that hes' just way too strong and snowballs the game way too hard with early dragons. there doesn't seem to be a counterpick to him or even a counter play style developed by the best teams in the world who came into worlds KNOWING he was what he is. remember, LGD let him through thinking they had a strategy that could specifically beat him, and then got shit stomped.

The problem is you can't give up Mordekaiser for gangplank. its not worth it. Sure, you also got an OP champ but they got the one that is basically a free win in the right hands now. and pro teams are the right hands.

I don't feel trading Mordekaiser even for Gangplank AND Elise is worth it. that is how OP mordekaiser is. If you give them the option of taking Morde, they are going to.

they should stop banning gp period, hes so fun to watch.

That doesn't work because there are 6 must-ban champions right now. Darius, Fiora, Garen, Morderkaiser, Vayne, Veigar. Who even bans GP lol.

Are GP and Mord really pick / ban? I just don't understand why.

GP is strong, sure, but as long as you know how he works and what to expect, he's a pushover in lane, and only ever wins if you do something stupid or forget about his barrels being a thing.

Mord can wreck your face if you get into melee range, but he typically goes bot lane, where all the ADCs are. If he gets picked into bot lane first, just pick Ashe, Cait, Sivir or someone else who can poke from a distance, and he's an absolute joke. The only time he's ever even worrisome is when he has a dragon, but it's easy enough to focus down. Top or mid, just play a ranged champ against him, and laugh as he does nothing.

Honestly, people in this game just need to grow up, and realize that not everything is a gimme -- sometimes you have to put in effort, and actually try, in order to win. Even champs like Darius and Fiora aren't unbeatable - in fact, they're more fun to play against, because they can easily kill you if you do something stupid.
