What makes Nami the best enchanter by design

Hi everybody!

I am a Nami main and in my opinion, Nami is of course gameplay wise the by far best designed and balanced enchanter champion in legaue of legends history. This opinion has been shared on other more general threads about enchanters so I assume it is more of a common sense that Nami is the poster child enchanter that does not share the most common gameplay flaws her comrades suffer.

In order to improve the gameplay of champions like Soraka, Sona and more, we need to be aware of what exactle makes Nami that great. Therefore I want to collect you opinions on that subjectin in this thread to have a better design foundation when following up with gameplay changes to other enchanters.

Sure I do have my opinion on that matter, but I want to have your unaffected opinions on that subject.

Thanks for any constructive participation! https://ddragon.leagueoflegends.com/cdn/img/champion/splash/Nami_0.jpg https://ddragon.leagueoflegends.com/cdn/img/champion/splash/Nami_1.jpg https://ddragon.leagueoflegends.com/cdn/img/champion/splash/Nami_2.jpg https://ddragon.leagueoflegends.com/cdn/img/champion/splash/Nami_3.jpg https://ddragon.leagueoflegends.com/cdn/img/champion/splash/Nami_7.jpg https://ddragon.leagueoflegends.com/cdn/img/champion/splash/Nami_8.jpg

Ok, it's a bit cringe how much you're worshipping Nami and how pandering you are but generally I can't disagree with your only real point in the entirety of your mini wall of text.

Nami is generally known as a super healthy champion due to her capabilities of doing all of the following simultaneously: 1 - Not be too hard to play against/sufficient room for counterplay 2 - Super rewarding when played right 3 - Decently rewarding even when played at an average level 4 - Not be too difficult 5 - Gameplay is so balanced plays are generally recognized even by the opponent team (tiltfree) 6 - Be a jack of all trades, with good healing, good engage, good disengage and up to two buffs 7 - Fits any ADC fine/matchup versatility without any real synergy issues or conflicts 8 - Incredibly flexible itemization 9 - Has never really fallen out of the meta since her release

Balance: Telegraphed skillshot stun Certain obvious range barriers Modest ult Little 1v1 duelling exept good 1v1 defence with Q if able to hit Still a quality pick nonetheless

My "problems" with nami though i like her a ton and do not disagree thats shes very viable.

  • She's shield-less without aery, aery compensates well but it never matches an actual shield. Heals are fine, but they dont help full health targets. A lulu shield effectively ups max hp by around 400 late game with 100% uptime. Nami cant give you the same burst protection.

  • Ebb and Flow is her only defensive utility that isnt skillshot cc or damage, while most enchanters offer multiple sources. Ie: janna ult and shield, lulu ult, polymorph, and shield, Soraka heal and ult. Nami has to land missable cc where others would enchant. The problem is, namis strength over them, cc, isnt really exclusive to nami...... The others have notable cc as well. ie: lulu ult/poly/qslow, janna q/w/ult

  • She doesnt buff adc strength nearly as well as lulu/janna, The ad/movespeed from janna, and the onhit damage/attack speed/movespeed from lulu just way overshadow the movespeed/onhit/slow that nami offers.

The only champion i really think she outright beats is soraka, and even then soraka destroys her late game teamfight heal potential.

Her CC can be reacted against. (In comparison to say, Sona's near instant AoE stun ult) Her kit has a healthy balance of damage and support so she can't easily solo lane (Orianna), but she's not just a helpless heal bot either (Soraka/Janna) Scales well into late game if she gets enough AP. (Her passive, bounces, and her E slow all scale with AP)
