lmao xD While Morde was a god when this item was in the game, it was the change to his E (in addition to the removal of this item) that caused his fall.

Remember when his E gave you additional shielding per target hit and you could fill up your shield just by hitting things with it, regardless of the damage? THAT is what made Morde OP, max shield all the time and built full tank. They took away the shield-per-hit and instead gave him/raised his AP ratios, which is why people build him weird today. imo, he should still be built tank like the days of old.

Meh. You build him tank and he's useless, but if you build him damage, he's still useless because he can't get to a target to destroy. He's either a walking meatshield that can be completely ignored or he's free gold, or he's unkillable and 20/0 because the enemies picked a mostly melee comp, or they have a Vayne that's trying to be Piglet and failing.

As someone who has mained Morde since his release, I disagree 100% with what you said.

Test out this build: Abyssal Scepter / Sorc Shoes / Sunfire Cape as core items, with Thornmail being absolutely necessary if other team has more than 1 autoattacker. Randuins, SV, BV, Warmogs are situational items based on enemy team comp. Build Void Staff as final item.

9x Magic Pen Marks 3x Mag Pen Quints 9x Armor/level Seals 9x CDR/level Glyphs

4-21-5 masteries.

With your huge magic pen, ~200 AP, great tankiness, and highly spammable AoE spells, I promise you deal loads of damage and are very damn hard to kill, especially if you get a ghost (which gets health based on your bonus health and restores you passive shield with the damage it does)

I have over 1k games as Mordekaiser across my 4 accounts.

Without any kind of Spell Vamp? I don't believe that'll do much. I mean, I can understand your tankiness can help prevent the health costs from doing much, but early on, if you have no vamp in at least the form of a Revolver, I don't see you surviving the laning phase. Morde is simply too easy to kill prior to his spell vamp due to his health costs and his lack of mobility, which still hasn't been fixed. The W change was nice, but that's not going to help prevent you from being ganked while you're tossing out abilities and destroying your own health bar while they help destroy it.

Early game you allocate 1200 of your gold towards buying a Hextech Revolver and about 185 gold towards potions, or 435 gold for Doran's Shield + Health pot start, plus another 185 for 5 additional health pots. Either way, you are blowing around 1400-1800 on just Hextech Revolver, health pots, and possibly a Doran's just to make it through laning.

1200 gold for revolver = 34 potions. You can make it through laning phase even while vsing the meanest of poke champions for half as many potions. Now, put that gold towards getting your core sooner and wrecking your lane.

1200 might get you 34 pots, but the revolver by itself is worth millions of potions since you'll be able to actually push the lane.

You won't make it through laning phase against any top champ that actually tries to brawl like Renekton, Jayce, Garen, Shyv, Hecarim, or even Maokai and many others because they'll sustain your damage and let you kill yourself with your health costs.

In mid lane, you can rush all the MR in the world and you'll still be laughed at in mid by most mages because they can poke you to hell and back all game long unless you get ganks. Should you choose to push the lane or go for your own poke, you'd end up being an easy target since you're immobile. Syndra, Ahri, Ziggs, Azir... I mean, I can likely name every popular mid right now that can crap on a TanKaiser because if you can't sustain through the lane against heavy poke, you won't win.

Mordekaiser literally shits on Garen, Shyv, and Renekton and I don't see myself getting beat by a Hecarim any time soon either.

Mordekaiser top actually counters most tops, and contrary to what you believe the tank build works. If you do have trouble sustaining yourself, I do not unless I'm in lane vsing a heavy poker (then yes I start sorc boots and then may go revolver), then buy the revolver and trash it end game when you buy your 6th item, no big deal.

What kind of god awful Garens and Renektons have you faced? Morde is innately squishy and is disgusting easy to all in at level 3, level 2 for Garen. Morde's damage is meh at based early and his abilities literally kill himself until he has some kind of sustain because a Doran's Shield just doesn't cut it.

Remember when Morde's shield wasn't like 98% based on only hitting champions, and his shield was built up with minions and champs? Or the part where his shield was relevant at all levels, so he was actually good in lane and in team fights? I remember when I first started playing I would build Tankakaiser+ap...sighs I miss that Morde :( He used to be my fav champ, now I don't dare play him.

The shield nerf is what killed morde. My memories are still haunted by my days as a lux mid main....

Oh great I have to lane against morde.... Morde walks over to his sides wraiths, E's them once, gets full shield comes to lane. I knock down his shield. He goes back to wraiths again. By late game he is winning 1v5.

Check end of game stats... Morde took 10 damage.....

no what made tank rengar (and still makes tank rengar viable) is his Q critting, It still crits. They have yet to fix the bug, therefor he's viable. He buys yomuus and then goes tank and still does 1k+ burst because his Q can crit.
