Should tethers stay connected to untargetable champions?

To me it makes no sense, however champions with the ability to go untargetable don't really need buffs.

yes, because you got hit before, not after. but thats just my opinion, especially when its something like leblanc chain, a skill shot which could be rendered useless.

But being untargetable means that the tether itself shouldnt be able to stay connected as it has no target to stay connected to.

here's an example of why it wouldn't work as you explain

I use a whip on you, and i wrap you up in it (not slash you but you're wrapped up)

you go invisible, er go untargetable

the whip just falls off even tho it's wrapped tightly around you

that doesn't really make much sense

Invisible does not equal untargetable. Untargetable in my mind means nothing can target you after it has been cast. Its like veigar's ultimate. It is "tethered" to you until it reaches you but you can still avoid it by going untargetable.

Veig's ult is not a tether. It's a targeted projectile. To compare it to the whip analogy, it's more like a laser-guided missile.

I never said it was a tether, I specifically put it in quote marks because targeted projectiles have the same principle as a tether when they are going to their target.

Where do you get that idea from?

Think about it. The projectile has a predetermined flight path (essentially the same thing as Morgana's tether without the slow) that cannot be interrupted unless the target is not there anymore (untargetable).

A tether can also be broken by the target putting sufficient distance between themselves and the source. A targeted projectile will simply keep chasing them.

A targeted projectile is not a tether. A 'predetermined flight path' (which, btw, targeted projectiles don't have, skillshots do) is not a tether.

Being counterable by untargetability does not make something a tether.

Also what about untargetables that completely remove the champion from the map? How does it make any sense at all that a tether stays on them?

I've had Yi's dodge Karma tether root with Alpha strike, which is quite frankly bullshit.

That is doable however the damage was not avoided. Since master Yi's untargetable time is increased by how many targets he hits it was more than likely he just Alpha striked at the right time to prevent you from seeing the 1 second karma root.

No its not, its a 3.25 second duration root when you Mantra it at max rank. And yeah, he did alpha strike at the right time. But he should have come out of it rooted in place, which he didn't. It works like it should against Vlad pool and Fizz pole, so why does alpha strike get to dodge it? That's just wrong.

All you said was Yi dodged karma tether with alpha strike. Yes it a 1 second root without mantra and rank 1. What I said was completely valid so do not deny it's possibility. Frankly I don't think you are telling the truth, and I think you just panic rooted him then died.
