The only issue I find about the AP item changes

The one thing that I noticed makes mages significantly weaker is that Riot completely scrapped the morello passive, and because of this passive being completely non-existant mages are going to run out of mana so much quicker. Even if you buy item 3285 that gives you +500 mana you will as a mage have to use spells consistantly to be relavant and unless you have item 3040, you will run out of mana really quick.

The passive that has been removed: UNIQUE PASSIVE: Kills and assists restore 20% of your maximum mana.

I think that's probably a good thing. The intention of these changes is to allow one item that gives you a truly insane amount of mana (item 3003), but you should be running out of mana if you aren't using that. Otherwise, the entire point of Archangels is wasted.

I don't see a suggestion or request of any kind in your post, but if you're subtly asking for Morello passive back, it ain't gonna happen. Even if mages come up weak, they'll find other buffs to help them; that passive was not healthy for the game.

Well, when you put it like that I understand why it was scrapped. Thanks for enlightening me.

The thing is though, then you run the risk of everyone eventually buying that item every-time like you did with the old item 3165 . Its already very appealing. If we break it down it: it gives you the most consistent damage(due to the mana to ap mechanic i get around 80 from that usually),a damage shield, CDR, and Mana.

Sure; but now, we have items that cannot be efficiently paired with archangels, so they know exactly what its competition is if they need to buff those items. Maybe they end up putting more mana on the other two Haste choices; I could see that happening.

This is a phrase that I haven't seen a Rioter use in awhile, but they used to often talk about introducing "balance levers." It's not just about balance on release, it's about introducing ways to tune balance when it gets out of whack. There was nothing to compete directly with old Morello; if they buffed other items, people would have just rushed Morello and then bought the OP item, too (or the other way around). Their new solution stops that problem, and thus will probably be better for the game in the long run even if you're right on release.
