Typically, Health and Armor are your best options for increasing your survivability against their mixture of autoattacks and true damage.

Attack Speed slows such as Randuin's Omen and Frozen Heart work well against Irelia. They don't affect Master Yi when he is using his ultimate though.

Thornmail can be useful to prevent them from healing off of you and returning a significant portion of their damage, though I would only recommend it after you purchase some health.

Master Yi is very vulnerable to CC, since he can easily be bursted down.

For Master Yi, anything that slows his attack speed will significantly reduce his damage.

Alphabetical order.

Frozen Heart is more reliable if you are not getting hit and/or have health from somewhere else. Randuin's Omen only procs its attack speed debuff if you're getting hit, but has stronger defensive stats.

tl;dr: Attack Speed Debuffs, Health and Armor.

the best counter to Yi is hard CC and then blowing him up However thornmail is an alright counter to him but without hard CC to stop him you basically have nothing you can realistically do about Yi. Remember that yi's ult makes him immune to all slows be it movement speed or auto attacks. aka Thornmail and warmogs is better then frozen heart and Omen.

For irelia the best counter items are the ones stated to reduce her damage output followed by in general more health since Irelia usually builds tank after trinity and no LW and no hard scaling damage abilities after level 9. Aka why nasus and sion are such a pain to deal with.
